What You Will Do :
As a Senior Municipal Engineering Project Manager, your primary responsibilities include overseeing and managing various engineering projects within a municipal setting. Your duties will involve :
- Managing all aspects of multi-disciplinary projects from proposal to closeout.
- Planning, directing, and coordinating activities such as client meetings, public hearings, and involvement events to ensure projects stay within time and budget constraints.
- Anticipating client needs and preferences, tailoring communication accordingly.
- Leading teams of engineers, technicians, and support staff, assigning tasks, and monitoring progress across multiple locations.
- Working directly with municipal staff to deliver CIP programs and projects, possibly on-site in a staff augmentation role.
- Establishing and maintaining client relationships, understanding their needs, and ensuring project requirements are met.
- Ensuring compliance with municipal codes, regulations, and environmental standards.
- Developing project budgets, managing resources, and monitoring expenditures for cost control.
- Maintaining open communication with clients and stakeholders.
- Identifying risks, developing mitigation strategies, and resolving issues during project execution.
- Overseeing contract negotiations, reviewing contractor performance, and ensuring contractual compliance.
- Preparing or coordinating project and client correspondence and documentation.
- Leading business development activities, including client meetings and networking events.
- Promoting continuous improvement by identifying process enhancements and fostering innovation within the department.
- Understanding and securing funding from alternative sources for municipal projects.
What You Will Bring :
The ideal candidate will have :
A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.Professional engineer registration or the ability to obtain it within six months.At least 5 years of municipal experience; direct municipal employment experience is a plus.Experience managing municipal CIP programs, projects, clients, and staff is preferred.A history of delivering projects with positive customer service.A positive attitude and eagerness to learn.An understanding of client needs and the ability to anticipate them is advantageous.Who We Are :
