POSITION TITLE

Custodian

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Head of School, we are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Custodian to join our team. The Custodian plays a critical role in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of our facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring a clean and organized environment for students, staff, and visitors.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Cleaning and Sanitizing : Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing surfaces in all areas of the facility.

Trash Removal : Collect and dispose of trash and recycling materials in accordance with established procedures.

Restroom Maintenance : Clean and disinfect restroom facilities, replenish supplies, and ensure they are well-maintained and stocked.

Floor Care : Care for various types of flooring, including carpet, tile, and hardwood, through vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping.

Window and Glass Cleaning : Clean windows, glass doors, and other glass surfaces to maintain a clean and presentable appearance.

Equipment Operation : Safely operate and maintain cleaning equipment, such as vacuum cleaners, floor buffers, and power washers.

Security : Ensure all doors, windows, and gates are securely locked and monitored during and after working hours.

Maintenance Reporting : Report any maintenance or repair needs to the supervisor to ensure a safe and functional environment.

Inventory Management : Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and request replenishment as needed.

Safety Compliance : Adhere to safety procedures and guidelines, including the safe use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.

All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Previous custodial or janitorial experience is a plus but not required.

Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and bending, and standing for extended periods.

Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques, equipment usage, and safety protocols.

Strong attention to detail and a commitment to cleanliness and order.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Strong time management skills to efficiently complete tasks within designated timeframes.

Dependability and strong work ethic.
