REQUIREMENTS

  • Direct patent drafting and prosecution experience
  • Registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office
  • Subject matter expertise in Computer Science, Physics, or Electrical Engineering with at least a BA in Computer Science, Physics, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Attorney candidates must have a JD from an ABA accredited law school.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Outstanding analytical skills, conscientious, reliable, eye for quality and detail.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently, as well as within a team involving extensive collaboration with other attorneys, paralegals, and support staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Preparing, filing and prosecuting patent applications before the USPTO.
  • Prepare, review and file PTO communications including, but not limited to, new applications, office action responses, Information Disclosure Statements, assignments and related ownership transfers.
  • Independently review and manage a docket of applications and patents with associated deadlines on a global basis, including managing direct communications with client personnel as well as the Firm's paralegals and support staff.
  • Perform a variety of foreign prosecution-related tasks such as preparation and filing of PCT applications and all associated non-US prosecution filings.
  • Maintaining an understanding of the relevant client businesses, including knowledge of business and technology strategies, R&D activities, commercialization plans, and IP portfolios.
  • Maintaining expertise in U.S. patent laws and a working knowledge of patent laws, regulations and processes throughout the world.
  • Enter, edit and track daily billable time in the Firm's timekeeping system.
