About The Position
Job Title : CT Scan Technologist Job Specialty : N / A Job Duration : 13-week assignment Shift : Mid - 4x10 - 1PM-11 : 30PM, 40 hours per week (Mostly 1PM-11 : 30PM, some shifts 11AM-9 : 30PM or 9AM-7 : 30PM, every other weekend, Thanksgiving holiday required) Guaranteed Hours : 40 hours Experience : Six months of CT experience preferred.
License : NJ DEP Diagnostic Radiography License Certifications : - ARRT Certified R.T.(R) license required - American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required Must-Have : - Knowledge of anatomy and physiology and radiological positioning of the human body - Understanding of mechanical attributes of CT software and hardware - Thorough knowledge of PACS system - Team members must achieve ARRT (CT) certification within twelve months following their hire date Job Description : Perform complex CT procedures and related techniques, producing sectional and three-dimensional images for interpretation and assisting with interventional and therapeutic procedures- Use professional judgment when reviewing and obtaining a patient’s clinical history for procedures, ensuring information is documented and scanned into PACS- Prepare, screen, and review the accuracy of the contrast questionnaire with patient and / or family member, and scan into EPIC- Identify and / or administer contrast media related to CT exams as prescribed by a licensed practitioner- Review patient prescription to verify appropriateness of exam and if incorrect, communicate with the Radiologist and Referring Physician to obtain additional clinical information or a new prescription- Verify insurance-authorized exam script and send exam modification forms for insurance re-verification- Obtain outside studies (CD) and schedule them in EPIC so the CD and reports are available in PACS for Radiologist comparison- Provide exam copies to the patient and requesting physician and / or family member- Evaluate radiographs using PACS System to ensure they contain proper identification and are of diagnostic value- Use consistent and appropriate techniques to gather relevant information from the medical record, significant others, and healthcare providers to prepare protocols for scanning and patient safety- Determine whether the patient has been appropriately prepared for the procedure, prep the patient for scanning, and determine the appropriate type and dose of contrast to be administered- Provide accurate explanations and instructions at a level the patient can understand and address / documents patient questions and concerns regarding the procedure when appropriate- Perform venipuncture, IV patency, and maintenance procedures according to established guidelines- Monitor the patient’s physical condition for any adverse reactions during the procedure- Adhere to departmental policy including employee ID, standards of behavior, attendance, and punctuality- Lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
