The Assistant ShiftSupervisor supports the supervision of the administrative andoperational security activities in a correctional / detentionfacility.
This role will directly supervise officers assigned tothe shift and may serve as acting Shift Supervisor in theirabsence.
In addition they will direct officers in performing theirduties related to the supervision of inmates / residents and theprotection and preservation of their legal rights.
The AssistantShift Supervisor conducts regular inspections of allsecurity-related and control-related functions. Must be able towork any post assignment on anyshift.
Directly supervise assigned security staff on theshift and evaluate the performance of subordinate staff.
Demonstrate and provide guidance to staff on adherencesafety and security practices and postorders.
Interpret, enforce and comply with rules, regulations,policies, procedures, and contract requirements.
Attend meetings to enhance effective communicationsbetween management, staff and inmates / residents.
Assist in streamliningcommunications and maintaining consistency of operation betweenshifts.
Qualifications :
High School diploma, GED certification or equivalent isrequired.
Three years of experience in a criminal justice fieldis required.
One year of corrections experience, including the care and custodyof inmates / offenders is required.
One year of experience in a supervisory capacity is preferred.
Additional education in criminal justice or a related field may besubstituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis upto two years.
Nosubstitution for the required corrections experience.
Experience in Microsoft Office or other similar softwareapplications is preferred.
Avalid driver's license isrequired.
Minimum age requirement : Must be at least 18 years ofage.
