Plan and schedule assigned purchasing commodities while

satisfying company goals and objectives relative to inventory, customer service levels, manufacturing effectiveness, and product cost containment.

Primary duties include engaging in product sourcing, supplier selection, negotiation, order placement, and follow-up activities.

Develops, coordinates, and maintains supplier relationships.

Core Job Duties

• Communicate with suppliers as required to establish pricing, payment, and delivery terms / expectations.
• Identify, evaluate, and recommend potential new suppliers of raw materials, components and services
• Monitor and provide suppliers with performance feedback related to product quality, on-time delivery, cost containment, and responsiveness (to corrective actions, RFQs, and expedite requests) in support of ISO9001 supplier monitoring procedures.
• Review and process MRP exception messages and generate purchase orders and revise delivery schedules accordingly.
• Issue purchase orders as required for MRO purchases.
• Participate in ongoing cost containment, avoidance, and reduction initiatives.
• Implement supply strategies in support of inventory turn goals and targets.

Education and Experience

• Associates or Bachelors Degree in Operations or Supply Chain Management preferred; 5+ years experience purchasing raw materials and components in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in an assemble-to-order electronics assembly environment helpful. CPIM, CPM, or CSCP Certification or progress towards certification preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes

• Previous experience with SAP, SAP IBP or equivalent ERP system; preferably at a super user level.
• CPIM or CSCP certification preferred; progress or training towards certification or continuing education in ASCM body of knowledge required.
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to work independently without close supervision
• Experience within an ISO9001 environment helpful.
• Possess good attention to detail; analytical
• Possess good teamwork skills
• Strong understanding of Microsoft Office Suite of tools.
