Job Title : Level 1 Machinist

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Level 1 Machinist to join our team. This position operates on the 1st shift from Monday to Thursday, 6am-4pm, and Friday, 6am-2pm. The role involves working on older machines including Makino horizontal mills, Haas VF7, VF3, and Flex mill - Gantry style for longer material. The machinist will work from prints and program at the machine, mainly editing pre-existing programs. The primary materials machined are steel, with some work involving plastics, aluminum, and bronze. Approximately 80-85% of the work is repetitive.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate conventional, CNC, and special purpose machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts.
  • Operate forklifts and overhead cranes.
  • Read, interpret, and utilize blueprints.
  • Deburr parts and ensure quality checks are done prior to the next operation.
  • Verify work using machinist measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers.
  • Maintain tight tolerances as required by engineering and customer specifications.
  • Perform periodic maintenance on all equipment in machine shops.
  • Utilize jigs and fixtures to maintain consistent quality.
  • Program, calculate, and set controls to regulate machining factors with assistance from the Production Team Lead or a Machinist 2.
  • Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or supervisor to resolve machining or assembly problems.
  • Ensure cutting tools and drill bits are in good condition and replace if required.
  • Float to different areas within the machine shop as directed by the supervisor.

Essential Skills

  • 2-3 years minimum experience operating a CNC mill.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Skill in setting up machines and selecting tooling.
  • Proficiency in using mics / calipers and performing quality checks.
  • Experience with G&M code and troubleshooting.
  • Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Familiarity with CNC, mills, G&M code, and editing.
  • Mechanical and lathe skills.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00 / hr.
