Consumer Products
Brands & Licensing is responsible for developing and deepening fan engagement to commercialize our IP content. This includes exploring digital growth opportunities for the business, looking at innovative licensing models and driving value from BBC Studios' world-famous brands such as Doctor Who, Bluey, Top Gear, Strictly Come Dancing / Dancing With The Stars and BBC Earth.
We run global businesses from live events to merchandise through to music and magazine publishing. We are right at the heart of helping BBC Studios identify opportunities for growth and future proof its success through scaling digital business models such as social media monetization and gaming through our new business division to identify the business models of the future.
On top of that we are the center of global data and do world class marketing to ensure BBC Studios brands generate fame globally.
Job Purpose

Drive innovative marketing strategies across diverse US and Canadian retail channels, ensuring our brands captivate and resonate with audiences everywhere.
The Senior Manager, Retail Development role will execute omnichannel retail development and marketing strategies to maximize presence and support at retail.
The primary focus will be to expand and manage BBC Studios brands’ retail presence across the specialty, mid-tier, value, off price, grocery / drug, convenience and department channels in the US and Canada.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
In this role, you will :
Principal Accountabilities :
- Communicate, educate and motivate retail buyers, management and marketing teams on BBC Studios’ brands, content, marketing initiatives and licensing partners.
- Craft compelling, creative and customized brand collateral for US + Canadian retail presentations including, but not limited to : Brand presentations, One-sheets, Infographics, Sizzles and other Visual graphics, Competitive Analysis and Recaps.
- Curate suite of campaign assets for evergreen, emerging and strategic marketing moments for Bluey, Doctor Who, BBC Earth and new brands in the pipeline.
- Create summary decks on brand campaign performance to help identify key learnings across US and Canadian retailers.
- Execute retail marketing activations including in-store events / promotions, costume appearances, online campaigns, and bespoke opportunities that will drive excitement, social engagement, traffic and sales.
- Collaborate with internal team, licensing partners and agencies to develop meaningful, turnkey retail events that achieve positive ROI.
- Analyze and evaluate retail and consumer trends to identify opportunities for brand / retail placement and retail marketing initiatives.
Scope and Impact :
- Contribute to, build upon, and help facilitate marketing ideas that differentiate BBC Studios’ content from the competition for each channel of retail distribution.
- Coordinate efforts with internal teams Brand, Marketing, Sales, Creative, PR, Finance and Legal to maximize efficiency and success.
Relationships
- Ability to cultivate, nurture and foster relationships is essential in this role.
- Seeking a dynamic individual who can effectively engage with internal teams, licensees, retail buyers, and external agencies to enhance support and visibility for BBC brands.
- Ideal candidate with existing relationships with key industry players in licensing and retail and knows how to navigate various retail channels.
Knowledge, Skills, Training & Experience
Knowledge :
- 7+ years of experience in licensing or entertainment, with a preference for backgrounds in sales, marketing, or retail development.
- BS / BA in marketing, communications or strategic communications.
- Ability to lead and prioritize overlapping projects with tight deadlines from conception to completion.
- Experience developing multi-platform marketing collateral and campaigns.
- Proficient in crafting compelling narrative storytelling for our brands.
Skills :
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Illustrator and Photo Shop a plus.
- Superior writing & proofing skills, with an eye for design.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Enthusiastic about pop culture with a keen interest in international content, trends, and audiences.
- Familiar with the SVOD / AVOD industry.
- Well-versed in US and Canadian retail markets.
- Proactive and collaborative team member.
- Self-driven with strong multitasking abilities.
- Open to travel as required.
Compensation
The anticipated annual base salary for this position is $105,000-$115,000. This does not include other benefits that an individual may be eligible for.
The actual base salary offered depends on the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and geographic location of the position.
