Operations Manager
We are a food production company with wholesale distribution and physical retail locations, based in Brooklyn.
This role on the Operations Team is in the Logistics Department. The Manager in this role should have experience and appreciation for systems and efficiency.
There are administrative, production and sales-related duties in this role, including overseeing the transportation team and interfacing with customers.
The role is 5 days / week, will include weekend coverage, with an early morning start time, either 4am or 5am, and an average 9-hour shift.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage and mentor a team of drivers
- Strategic planning to achieve the best possible outcome across all channels
- Collaboration with the Operations team to create, implement, and optimize systems
- Work with Operations team to continuously improve the customer experience
- Create the daily schedule and instructions
- Oversee AM delivery operations
- Ensure delivery timeliness and execute problem-solving when necessary
- Work across departments to uphold QC practices
- Analyze logistics performance regularly, taking action to course-correct when needed
- Manage scheduling and payroll reporting direct reports
- Train all direct reports on standards of customer service
- Assist in the sales process
- Manage the payroll related to the department
- Respond to order inquiries
- Communicate with partners to resolve any issues or updates
- On-site customer training and service
- Vehicle maintenance assurance
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
- 2+ years of Operations or Logistics-specific experience, within a food operation preferred
- Previous managerial experience of a team of at least 3 people
- NYC DOHMH Food Protection Certificate (NYC Food Handler’s License) preferred
- Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, G-Suite required; ERP and routing software experience preferred
- Valid Driver License
- Ability to reach, bend, squat and frequently move up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand on your feet for long periods of time
- Early morning and weekend availability is required
COMPENSATION
This position is an overtime-exempt salaried position with the expectation of working approximately 45 hours / week. The salary range for this role is $70,000-$80,000, depending on experience.
