JobDescription :

• Anadvanced level position that ensures safe and efficient trafficmovement and monitors roadways including detecting confirmingupdating and responding to scheduled and unscheduled trafficincidents congestion and travel timeimbalances.
• Theinitial contract is subject to extension upon goodperformance.

Responsibilities :

• Advancedlevel operator position performing functions with supervision andto establishedprocedures.
• Toperform all duties and may defer the most complex issues to asupervisor.
• Tooperate various computerbased traffic management systems to managetraffic and incidents on roadways and improve trafficconditions.
• Tomonitor roadways via CCTV surveillance cameras and detectionsystems.
• Tomonitor all traffic devices and computer equipment associated withthesystem.
• Tomaintain knowledge of the operation of all traffic equipmentcomputers and software associated with the trafficsystems.
• Toutilize traffic equipment for incident management and theimprovement of travel time safety and quality of life of thetraveling motorists and tollcustomers.
• Tocontinually checks the accuracy and validity of the messagesdisplayed on all DMS and511.
• To beaware of all 511 messages broadcast on a particularsystem.
• Toenter incident information into computer systems using trafficsoftware.
• Tobecome familiar with the roadways and understands the purpose andlocation of each traffic device (i.e. detector stations CCTV and511).
• Toalert operator staff to new and existingmemos.
• Touse SOG to detect dispatch monitor and document roadwayincidents.
• Toconfer with partners (highway patrol Service Patrols Local LawEnforcement Fire Rescue etc.) as well as adjacent TrafficManagement Centers or other DOT Regions to coordinate resources forincidents that may affect regionaltravel.
• Todispatch Service Patrols and assist Service Patrols with othertasks such as phone callsetc.
• Toperform other duties asassigned.

To enter incident informationinto computer systems using traffic software. To become familiarwith the roadways and understands the purpose and location of eachtraffic device (i.

e. detector stations, CCTV, and 511). To alertoperator staff to new and existing memos. To use SOG to detect,dispatch, monitor, and document roadway incidents.

To confer withpartners (highway patrol, Service Patrols, Local Law Enforcement,Fire Rescue, etc.) as well as adjacent Traffic Management Centersor other DOT Regions to coordinate resources for incidents that mayaffect regional travel.

To dispatch Service Patrols and assistsService Patrols with other tasks, such as phone calls, etc. Toperform other duties as assigned.
