By joining the Infrastructure & Operations (I & O) portfolio within the Information Technology Services department, you will become a member of a unified workforce recognized for being diverse and inclusive and for being a dynamic team focused on being digital, ready, and resilient in 2021.

Whether the infrastructure teams are delivering services for staff working on the next generation currency note design, maintaining an infrastructure that can support 2,500 staff working remote or helping to host some of Canadas most important Payment Systems, you will find yourself challenged in new ways every day.

You will join us as we journey towards self-service and autonomously available products for our customers by exploiting the use of Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC).

Note : The position can be filled at our Ottawa or Calgary facilities. Remote working the duration of the contract is also an option if the successful candidate is not located in the National Capital Region or within reasonable commuting distance of our Calgary office.

What you will do

As an ideal candidate, your mindset will be to minimize infrastructure customization while being well versed in the merits of what CTS can already offer.

You will maintain a view that looks for opportunities to promote task automation in your area of specialization; and, in support of other areas.

You will be responsible for the daily production support of the Bank's environments. More specifically, you will :

• support I&O's Product teams to represent your area of specialization in solving business challenges or driving new capabilities.
• explore and adopt the integration of new technologies and methods.
• respond to issues or challenges that have a high degree of complexity, with or without support from others in the same specialty.
• identify and recommend acceptable mitigation strategies and trade-offs to maintain quality of solutions

What you need to succeed

You have strong technical leadership, teamwork, negotiating and technical decision-making skills needed to support a 24 / 7 / 365, multi-tiered large-scale production environment.

You have knowledge or experience in :

• providing production support (on-call rotation) which includes planning and execution of patch management
• planning of RHEL migrations to maintain full support from vendor
• providing input on planning of installation, configuration and tuning of Solaris (ver.11.4) servers using OVM
• using Ansible with Satellite to automate configuration of RHEL subsystems
• providing input and / or developing necessary documentation (build books, operation guides)

Nice-to-have

experience managing and deploying RHEL Linux servers in Azure public cloud

Your education and experience

This position requires a bachelors degree or college diploma in computer science with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience (or combination of) in the following :

• System administration and hardware support
• Solaris and Red Hat Linux (including Ansible and Satellite servers)
• Build automation (Scripting, Packaging, Ansible, OpsCenter)
• VMWare imaged deployments
• an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

• Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $81,900 to $96,300 (job grade 16)
• Depending on performance, you may be eligible for performance pay for successfully meeting (5 to 7% of your base salary) or for exceeding expectations (10% of your base salary).

Exceptional performers who far exceed expectations may be eligible for higher performance pay.
