Job Summary

The Director of Advancement Services reports to the Vice President of University Advancement and is responsible for leading and managing the advancement services functions, including database management, gift processing, reporting, prospect research, and donor relations. This role ensures the integrity, security, and strategic use of data to support fundraising and engagement efforts. The Director oversees all advancement services operations, ensuring data-driven decision-making and compliance with industry standards and regulations. This position collaborates closely with fundraising, alumni relations, and finance teams to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

This position is grant funded and continued employment is contingent upon the availability of funding.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight for advancement services, including database administration, gift processing, and donor record management.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure data accuracy, integrity, and security.
  • Manage the production of reports, analytics, and dashboards to support fundraising and engagement strategies.
  • Supervise prospect research and ensure the effective identification, tracking, and analysis of donor prospects.
  • Ensure compliance with IRS regulations, CASE guidelines, and institutional policies related to fundraising and gift administration.
  • Collaborate with IT, finance, and fundraising teams to integrate and optimize data management systems.
  • Lead and mentor a team of advancement services professionals, providing guidance and professional development opportunities.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to enhance advancement operations.
  • Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in advancement services, fundraising operations, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated experience in data management, reporting, and analytics in a nonprofit or higher education setting.
  • Experience leading and managing teams in a complex organizational environment.
  • Familiarity with data privacy laws and best practices in data security.
  • Proposed Salary

    The proposed salary range is $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 annually.

    Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Strong leadership and strategic planning skills.
  • Proficiency in advancement CRM systems (e.g., Blackbaud, Salesforce, Ellucian).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex data concepts to diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of fundraising principles and donor stewardship.
  • Knowledge of compliance requirements, including IRS regulations and CASE guidelines.
