Position Title : Lead Technical Writer
Location : Houston, TX - Remote with in office presence 1-2x per month
The Opportunity :
We are seeking a highly experienced Lead Technical Writer with extensive knowledge of LNG projects to support the Project Manager in a major Oil & Gas project.
The successful candidate will utilize their deep understanding of LNG processes to produce high-quality documentation and procedures, ensuring they meet project requirements and regulatory standards.
This role demands proficiency in interpreting technical documents and turning them into clear, actionable procedures.
What You'll Be Doing :
- LNG Expertise : Provide expert guidance on LNG processes and ensure documentation reflects best practices and technical accuracy.
- Document Production : Create various technical documents, including manuals, reports, procedures, and guidelines specific to LNG projects.
- Quality Assurance : Ensure all documentation meets high standards of quality, accuracy, and compliance with relevant regulations.
- System Understanding : Analyze and understand complex systems and processes within LNG projects and translate them into clear, comprehensive procedures.
- Technical Interpretation : Proficiently read and interpret Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), engineering drawings, technical documentation, charts, and other technical materials.
- Collaboration : Work closely with the Project Manager and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and integrate technical writing efforts with overall project goals.
- Progress Tracking : Monitor and report on the progress of documentation efforts, ensuring deliverables are met according to the project timeline.
- Issue Resolution : Identify and resolve issues related to documentation, ensuring minimal disruption to project timelines.
- Regulatory Compliance : Ensure all documentation adheres to relevant regulatory and compliance standards, including OSHA, DOT, Coast Guard, and local laws in Texas.
Who We Are Looking For :
- Extensive Experience : Minimum of 15 years in technical writing, with at least 10 years focused on LNG projects.
- LNG Knowledge : In-depth understanding of LNG processes, technologies, and industry standards.
- Technical Proficiency : Proven ability to read and interpret P&IDs, engineering drawings, and other technical documents, and turn them into clear, actionable procedures.
- Project Coordination : Experience in supporting large-scale projects, ideally in the Oil & Gas sector.
- Communication Skills : Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly and effectively.
Key Challenges :
- Technical Accuracy : Maintain a high level of technical accuracy in all documents, leveraging extensive LNG expertise.
- Documentation Volume : Manage a large volume of documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- System Understanding : Quickly understand and document complex systems and processes.
- Compliance : Ensure all documentation adheres to regulatory requirements from OSHA, DOT, Coast Guard, and local authorities.
Regulatory and Compliance Knowledge :
Familiarity with OSHA, DOT, Coast Guard, and other local regulatory laws and bodies pertinent to LNG projects in Texas is highly advantageous.
