JOBSUMMARY
Toprovide safe, reliable and cost-efficient vehicles by performingquality preventive maintenance inspections and repairs as well asperforming expert diagnosis and repair as required to preventbreakdowns on road, reduce vehicle downtime and improve total fleetreliability.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performrequired inspections and preventive maintenance on vehicles andequipment with in planned time tolerances to maximize the safety,reliability, and cost efficiency throughout the life cycle of thefleet.
- Perform FAI / CVI (Annual) inspections onall fleet vehicles including tractors, trailers, converter dollies,light-duty vehicles, and any other company-owned equipment inaccordance with all federal, state and local legal and regulatoryagencies.
Includes all state-required inspections andfrequencies).
- Perform quality preventivemaintenance inspections per company methods on all fleet vehiclesincluding tractors, trailers, converter dollies, refrigerationunits (Reefer), lift-gates, light-duty vehicles, and any othercompany-owned equipment.
- Perform qualitymaintenance repairs as required to maximize safety and reliabilityon all fleet vehicles including tractors, trailers, converterdollies, lift-gates, light-duty vehicles, and any company-ownedequipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance,diagnosis and repair to refrigeration units(Reefer).
- Address all Driver Vehicle InspectionReport write ups timely, andefficiently.
- Diagnose cause of any malfunctionand perform repairs to manufacturer specifications including butnot limited to engines, transmissions and clutches, drive-line,differential, steering and suspension, fuel and ignition system,exhaust systems (including regeneration systems), intake systems,electrical systems, brake systems, HVAC systems and lift-gatehydraulic, mechanical and electricalsystems.
- Follow procedures includingdocumenting all work performed on workorders.
- Mentor, teach and share expertise withFleet Technician I and II to aid in their development to positionsof greater responsibility.
- May perform moderatesupervisory roles when Fleet Manager or Fleet Supervisors are notaccessible.
- Proficient in electrical metertesting
- Knowledge of controls and electric (DC(distribution center) low voltage
- Electricmotor knowledge (DC)
- Complete electricalrepairs and welding projects asneeded.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Highschool diploma or GED required
- Current andvalid driver's license (CDL Preferred, NotRequired)
Experience
- Medium / Heavy Duty truck technical training
- 2-yearschool and 4 years of experience OR
- 5 years ofexperience in fleet maintenance andrepair
