Position Summary :

Reporting to the Chief Information Officer and a member of the divisional leadership team, the Director of Infrastructure and Security Services is responsible for ensuring the stable, secure, and reliable operations of the University’s technology infrastructure, whether provided onsite or from an off-campus location.

Further, the director oversees the University’s endpoint management model, providing strategic direction for elements such as mobile device management, printing, classroom technologies, and other related peripherals.

Finally, the director oversees the University technology security program.

Duties / Responsibilities :

  • Provide direct oversight of the Infrastructure, Endpoint and Security Services teams, including fostering innovation, planning projects, and organizing and negotiating the allocation of resources in partnership with the CIO.
  • Supervisory Scope :
  • Directly supervise two Assistant Directors and one Information Security Specialist.
  • Indirectly supervise five Engineers / Administrators.
  • Under the strategic guidance of the CIO, manage all aspects of the university’s technology security program, including an external partnership with a contracted security vendor.
  • Proactively manage work and communications to ensure that activities and projects are moving forward and consistently meeting or exceeding service level expectations.
  • Successfully manage key relationships with campus partners and strategic, external partners / vendors.
  • Partner with the Service Management team to ensure a high level of customer service and adherence to service level agreements across the Infrastructure, Endpoint, and Security Services teams.
  • As needed, serve as a hands-on project manager for all security, networking, and infrastructure projects, coordinating closely with other departmental leaders to ensure adherence to scope, budget, and resource allocation.
  • Source, replace, implement, support, and maintain network, endpoint, and security components (e.g., telecommunications, servers, operating systems, hardware, and software, etc.).
  • Assist the CIO in developing and maintaining capital and operating budgets for technology infrastructure and other expenses in support of departmental and institutional strategic plans.
  • Participate in the development of the strategic information technology plan, processes, and solutions.
  • Hold team and individual one-on-one meetings with direct reports, at a minimum of a bi-weekly basis.
  • Attend all departmental leadership team and other planning meetings. At the request of the CIO, represent the division at additional campus or external meetings, events, or gatherings.
  • Participate in occasional after-hour, weekend, or holiday support needs, upgrades, or emergency scenarios.
  • Engage in university service work that promotes collaboration and community building. This includes participating in organizational initiatives, supporting campus events, contributing to community outreach, and fostering a diverse and inclusive environment through involvement in various staff-driven activities and groups.
  • Other duties as required and / or assigned.

Required Qualifications :

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Information Technology management.
  • Demonstrated experience with hardware and software related to technology infrastructure, endpoint management, and cybersecurity.
  • Demonstrated experience with technology talent management and coaching.
  • Demonstrated experience managing technical infrastructure projects and initiatives to successful completion.
  • Demonstrated experience with high visibility hardware and software, and the ability to prioritize individual and team workload based on competing demands.
  • Demonstrated experience with IT security initiatives, including knowledge of industry best practices and a proven track-record of success with related initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Experience in a higher education environment.
  • Experience with Extreme Networks, Palo Alto solutions, Microsoft SCCM, Microsoft Teams Calling, and / or Microsoft Intune.
  • Certifications related to infrastructure, endpoints, and / or security.

Physical Demands :

  • Ability to spend long durations of the workday sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.

Salary and FLSA Status :

  • Salary : $100,500-110,000 annually
  • FLSA Status : Exempt 37.5 hours
