Position Purpose
The Education and Community Development Director is responsible for all program support and funding development initiatives.
This individual will build new relationships to increase Child Inc's visibility, impact, and financial resources. The Education and Community Development Director also will design and implement a comprehensive plan for developing key external alliances marketed to individuals and private organizations and maintaining primary responsibility for writing government grant applications.
Additional responsibilities include conducting the community assessment at least every three years and update every year;
other community and internal agency planning and evaluation needs; and keeping current on research that can potentially impact the agency or its clientele.
The Education and Community Development Director will advise the executive director and management staff on initiatives to identify funding sources such as grants, in-kind donations, charitable events and marketing opportunities.
This position will work closely with the City of Austin and Travis County contracts to ensure all renewals, deadlines, monitoring visits, and reports, are done in a professional timely manner.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child and Family Studies, or related field with training field with completed coursework that would be equate to a major in early childhood education;
- At least three (3) years teaching experience with increasing levels of responsibility and demonstrated leadership traits as a Lead Teacher;
- Demonstrated knowledge in best practices in early childhood education; understanding of early childhood evaluations, observations, and assessments for both teachers and children;
- Experience with mentoring and training early childhood practitioners preferred;
- Educational experience and training in Early Brain Development, Responsive Caregiving, and / or Reflective Supervision preferred;
- Strong computer skills including Word, Excel, Power Point and other applications as needed;
- Bilingual English / Spanish preferred;
- Must be a certified CLASS observer and / or willingness to be trained.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and experience working with diverse population both in the community and administrative staff;
- Must pass all criminal history background checks.
