Job Description
Job Title : Registered Nurse
Job Specialty : Intensive / Critical Care Unit (ICU / CCU)
Job Duration : 13 Weeks
Shift : 12-Hour Night Shift
Guaranteed Hours : 36 Hours
Experience : One year preferred; nursing skills and knowledge base specific to specialty.
License : State RN license or RN license from a participating state in the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) required.
Certifications :
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - Required
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification - Required
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - Required for certain positions
Must-Have : Critical care and patient care skills. Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records.
Job Description :
- Assess patients' physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs through observation, interviews, and review of medical records and clinical data.
- Evaluate patient responses and intervene to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Develop and implement patient care plans and observe outcomes in accordance with nursing standards, collaborating with the interdisciplinary team.
- Demonstrate competency in various therapeutic and diagnostic interventions including IVs, incision / wound care, medication administration, catheterization, and specimen collections.
- Promote, advocate, and collaborate to protect the health, safety, and rights of each patient.
- Provide patient and family education by assessing readiness, needs, and abilities; teaching and evaluating the effectiveness of teaching.
- Recognize the patient or designee as a full partner in providing compassionate, coordinated care based on respect for preferences, values, and needs.
- Deliver relationship-based care with respect for cultural differences and the diversity of human experience.
- Delegate tasks to non-RN personnel in accordance with State Board of Nursing and hospital policies.
- Effectively use time, personnel, equipment, and supplies to provide high-quality, cost-effective patient care.
- Serve as a professional role model, demonstrating ethical, legal, and professional nursing processes.
- Manage resources and patient flow by matching nursing competencies with individualized patient and unit needs.
- Adhere to standards of care, hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines to guide practice.
- Function effectively within nursing and inter-professional teams fostering open communication, mutual respect, and shared decision-making to achieve quality patient care.
- Precept / mentor new staff or nursing students as needed; seek out learning opportunities and continuing education.
- Maintain professional records evidencing competency and lifelong learning.
- Evaluate personal nursing practice in relation to professional practice standards and goals.
- Participate in unit-based quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and research activities.
- Use current healthcare research findings and other evidence to expand clinical knowledge and enhance role performance.
Candidates must be willing to float within specified zones to meet critical needs and fulfill duties that may extend beyond original job requirements.
