Job Description

We're on the lookout for a lead Cloud DevOps / Infrastructure Engineer with a proven record in developing secure, scalable cloud infrastructure solutions.

Your expertise will contribute to the evolution of Visa's innovative Global Payment systems, boosting business growth and operational proficiency.

You should have a comprehensive understanding of specific technical domains, including applicable processes, methodologies, standards, products, and frameworks.

Extensive experience in designing and implementing infrastructure solutions on major public clouds such as AWS, GCP & Azure is essential.

A strong grasp of DevOps philosophy and experience in infrastructure as code(IaC) and automation at scale is a must. Your role will involve establishing, promoting, and providing standard foundational services for Visa's public cloud implementation, collaborating closely with stakeholders to design and implement solutions with robust security posture, cost optimization, and enhanced developer productivity.

You will take full responsibility for the solutions we deliver to our customers, ensuring the availability, performance, security, and reliability of the applications operating in the cloud.

Essential Functions :

  • Play a leading role to deliver agile, innovative, secure, highly available and scalable infrastructure and management solutions that harness technology advancements for scalability, performance, cost optimization.
  • Collaborate with Cloud Architects and fellow engineers to actively contribute to our public cloud strategy and standardization.
  • Design and implement core cloud foundational services / solutions that are essential for operating in cloud securely and efficiently.
  • Mature the cloud ecosystem, establish standards, and integrate infrastructure management domains - including logging, monitoring, configuration management, and orchestration.
  • Mature container ecosystem and standardize and automate Kubernetes cluster provision process
  • Advocate a cloud-native approach for the development of greenfield solutions, considering business goals, objectives, and requirements, whilst ensuring the integration with legacy solutions.
  • Identify and utilize standard toolsets to develop & enhance continuous delivery and continuous integration (CICD) processes.
  • Incorporate security measures into all project stages - design, implementation, and operations.
  • Facilitate knowledge transfer to peers and the operation teams on solution architecture, design, and delivery.
  • Mentor junior team members to level up team competencies and skills.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership / site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

10+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or at least 7 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.

g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 4 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 13+ years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Electrical or other relevant engineering field
  • 10 or more years of experience as Cloud DevOps engineer in Cloud infrastructure & solution implementation and automation
  • Proven record of defining technology roadmap, executing defined technology strategies and driving adoption across a large enterprise
  • Extensive experience architecting, designing, developing, and implementing cloud solutions on one of the public clouds (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
  • Experience in designing, building, and supporting large-scale production systems in cloud or migrating to the cloud, practicing infrastructure as code (IaC), automated testing, autoscaling, and self-healing.
  • Extensive experience in infrastructure as code (IaC) with tools such as Terraform and configuration management tools such as Ansible.
  • Experience in managing production container ecosystems - Docker, Kubernetes, Service Mesh (Istio or Linkerd), CNI (Calico, Cilium)
  • Experience of the Software Development Process including Continuous Integration pipeline tools such Jenkins and GitLab.
  • Experience in container CICD in Kubernetes environments using tools such as ArgoCD or Flux
  • Experience cloud-native monitoring and APM tools such as AWS Cloudwatch, GCP Cloud Operations Suites, and Azure Monitor
  • Experience in optimizing monitoring and observability systems and experience in Prometheus, Grafana, and familiar with OpenTelemetry standards.
  • Strong knowledge in Linux and Linux environments and working knowledge in one of scripting language such as Python, Nodejs, or Golang.
  • Knowledge in the security tools and standard methodologies such as CIS Benchmarking, OS hardening, vulnerability scanning, and system auditing
  • Strong analytical skills and able to work independently to solve sophisticated engineering problems.
  • Proven ability to lead with passion and execute vision with little guidance and ability to make independent judgments and decisions within established guidelines.
  • Outstanding organizational, communication, interpersonal, relationship building skills conducive to collaboration. Able to work well in a global matrix management environment.

Additional Information

Work Hours : Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements : This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental / Physical Requirements : This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY : The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 147,400.00 to 213,800.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable).

Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
