Overview

Responsible for supporting System Value Analysis Team (VAT) functions to include but not limited to, research, analytics and compliance for supplies, services and equipment.

Plans, executes and manages VAT projects under the direction of the System Director of Value Analysis.

This position is hybrid and must reside within the UPH Geographical footprint

Responsibilities

Strategic Sourcing, Value Analysis & Supply Chain Management

• Responsible for the review all new product submission requests.
• Manage the System New Product Request Process.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and team members to facilitate Value Analysis activities across UnityPoint Health.
• Evaluate and recommend appropriate clinical substitute products and solutions when preferred on-contract products are on back-order, product recall or otherwise unavailable.
• Project management oversight to all UnityPoint Health regions for VAT recommended product conversions and clinical product trials.

Develops timelines, documents results based on decisions made in the System VAT and communicates them appropriately.

• Research, interpret and present applicable clinical literature to support product utilization, product conversions and additions, trials and committee activities.
• Identify new opportunities for reduction in clinical variation and product standardization.
• Prepare accurate and timely reports related to initiatives brought into the VAT process.
• Under the direction of the System Director of Value Analysis, perform research on products / services with focus on evidence-based information to ensure quality and clinical efficacy.
• Coordinate with Supply Chain Analysts to prepare financial analytics and validates those with members of the VAT team.

Gathers and completes necessary data for all new product requests and associated cost analyses. Works with Sourcing Managers and Data Analyst to prepare and present presentations for value analysis committees that will facilitate decision making.

• Coordinate educational activities related to implementation of new products and services. Collaborate with the regional partners to develop and design an effective educational strategy.
• Facilitate communication between vendors, clinical staff, and key Healthcare System departments so compliance and acceptance of new product is achieved.
• Performs audits on implemented items and determines areas for improvement.
• Participate in Supply Chain Performance Improvement Projects, Product Specialist Team meetings, and training opportunities.
• Subject matter expert supply chain’s value-based purchasing by routinely promoting best-in class products at the right price, right quality, right time and right place.
• Identifies, investigates issues and resolves matters related to value analysis process, products, and promoting best in class work.

Work reaches assigned affiliates and affiliate VAT teams. · Coordinates product trials between requesting departments and vendors.

Qualifications

Education :

• Clinical Associate Degree : Nursing, OR Tech, Cath Lab CVRT, etc.
• Licensed Practical / Vocational Nurse · 5 or more years’ experience in Healthcare value-analysis may offset educational requirement
• Bachelor’s Degree Nursing

Experience :

• Three years working in a clinical setting
• Procurement or Clinical Supply Chain contracting knowledge
• General understanding of GPO (Group Purchasing Operations)
• Five years clinical acute care experience
• Prior value analysis experience
• Demonstrated knowledge of hospital and clinical staff functions required.
• Extensive knowledge of medical / surgical product

applications / clinical practice and a minimum one year of clinical responsibility for a materials / supply chain function involving supplies, equipment or process required.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities :

• Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English.
• Demonstrated computer, analytical, organizational, facilitation, human relation and effective communication skills
• Microsoft Office knowledge including Advanced Excel Skills with knowledge of lookup functions, queries, uploads, pivot tables and proficiency in navigating web-based software and solutions.
• Ability to learn quickly and apply knowledge to problems in order to develop solutions.
• Self-starter with the ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced, ever changing environment.
• Requires highly developed communications and negotiation skills to effectively collaborate with customers and vendors.
• Possesses excellent writing and verbal communications skills and the ability to understand and communicate concepts and recommendations.
• Ability to understand and deal effectively with problems and opportunities which arise in a complex multiprocessing environment.
• Project management skills
• Knowledge of Value Analysis contracting and procurement processes
• GPO (Group Purchasing Operation)

• Work occasionally requires travel to other UnityPoint Health facilities.
