OVERVIEW

The Matching Grant Program is designed to help refugees overcome barriers and quickly find jobs. The Case Manager for the Matching Grant program will provide support and case management to recently resettled refugees and work with refugee clients to access employability services, including English language assessment and training, transportation, and other services required to remove barriers to self-sufficiency.

The position will report to Field Office Director and work closely with the Employment Services team in Dearborn, MI.

USCRI has a mandatory COVID-19 vaccine policy. All employees must be fully vaccinated to work at any / all locations at USCRI.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide culturally and linguistically appropriate intake services, including assessing clients' employability, preparing employment plans, assisting clients in finding appropriate jobs through job development and employer contacts, providing on-the-job support to facilitate employment retention and self-sufficiency;
  • Provide employment preparation services, including job orientation activities that include an introduction to U.S. workplace expectations and norms, development of job search and interviewing skills, development of client resumes, assistance with job applications.
  • Provide transitional support services designed to help clients obtain and retain employment and / or obtain and maintain self-sufficiency, including assisting clients in obtaining childcare, transportation to the job, and information regarding and referral to other services that will help clients maintain employment / self-sufficiency, including translation and interpretation;
  • Make referrals to internal and external services, including short-term vocational training programs, to remove barriers to self-sufficiency.
  • Work to connect clients with supportive community networks and support systems to ensure their long-term integration in the community.
  • Orient refugee clients to community resources.
  • Develop employment prospects by conducting outreach to employers and employment agencies; facilitate partnerships and recruit new placements opportunities.
  • Meet with service providers, landlords, and employers to inform them of organizational program services, negotiate linkages and provide follow-up services to determine the success of the participants referred.
  • Ensure that refugees are being served in a linguistically and culturally appropriate manner and provide education and advocacy when necessary.
  • Maintain case files.
  • Submit written reports as required; and
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • A bachelor’s degree in social work, communications, or related field.
  • Experience in case management, job development, social work, or working with refugee populations preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to communicate and build lasting relationships and partnerships with local employers.
  • Good written and verbal command of English.
  • Ability to work as a team member and independently, with high-level of self-motivation required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Must have a valid driver's license, insurance, clean driving record and personal transportation; and
  • Dedication to the human rights of refugees, immigrants, asylum seekers, and displaced people.

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

  • Satisfactory Completion of USCRI’s Orientation and Training.
  • Satisfactory completion of annual mandatory training; and
  • Complete additional training as identified by supervisor(s), program director or Human Resources.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Use of manual dexterity, tactile, visual, and audio acuity.
  • Use of repetitive motion, prolonged periods of sitting and standing, and sustained visual and mental applications and demands.
  • Occasional lifting (up to 25 pounds), bending, pulling, and carrying.
  • Quantitative / mathematical ability (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, standard measurements); and
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
