About the Department
The Department of Counseling and Psychological Services, located in the College of Education and Human Development, is an urban-based, multidisciplinary department that consists of the following CACREP accredited master's programs : School Counseling (M.
Ed), Clinical Mental Health Counseling (M.S), Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling (M.S.). Our mission is to advance the fields of counseling and psychology by promoting rigorous research, applying evidence-based treatments, and advocating for effective social policies.
Position Description
The Department of Counseling and Psychological Services seeks highly qualified candidates to fill a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant / Associate Professor in the College of Education and Human Development beginning in August 2025.
The successful candidate will have a strong research and / or clinical background with children and adolescents and will be expected to teach core and specialty graduate-level counseling courses in the 60 credit hour, CACREP-accredited Clinical Mental Health Counseling and / or School Counseling program(s).
Required Experience
Assistant Tenure-Track Professor Position : No prior experience is required. Associate Tenure-Track Professor Position : A minimum of 5 years of full-time teaching at the graduate level is required.
Required Education
Candidates must have an earned doctorate from a CACREP-accredited Counselor Education program by the start date of the position.
Preferred Qualifications / Experience
- Active participation in research activities related to counseling.
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness at either the undergraduate or graduate level.
- Paid clinical experience as a clinical mental health counselor or school counselor.
- Active involvement in professional organizations.
- Be license-eligible in the State of Georgia.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Expertise in clinical mental health counseling practices.
- Strong teaching skills with the ability to design and deliver graduate-level counseling courses.
- Ability to engage in robust scholarly activity.
Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations
Candidate must be licensed or license-eligible in the state of Georgia (LPC).
