Position Overview :
As the Floor / Service Manager you will play a pivotal role in ensuring smooth day-to-day operations of the dining room, while fostering an exceptional service environment.
The ideal candidate will not only be a service-oriented leader with a natural ability to inspire and manage a team, but will also have a refined understanding of wine to enhance guest experiences and support the restaurant’s high standards in beverage service.
Your goal will be to maintain the restaurant’s atmosphere of sophistication and warmth while meeting business objectives related to guest satisfaction, service quality, staff training, and overall operational efficiency.
You will collaborate closely with the General Manager, Executive Chef, and the beverage team to align service goals with our hospitality vision.
Key Responsibilities :
- Leadership & Team Management :
- Oversee floor operations during service, ensuring all guest interactions are seamless and exceed expectations.
- Lead, train, and mentor service staff, creating a culture of collaboration, professionalism, and excellence.
- Conduct regular training sessions on service standards, food, and wine knowledge to ensure the team is well-prepared to deliver elevated experiences.
- Manage staffing levels, scheduling, and floor assignments to ensure smooth and efficient service at all times.
- Provide feedback and coaching to the team, promoting growth and continuous improvement.
- Guest Relations & Service Excellence :
- Be a visible presence on the dining floor, ensuring guests feel welcomed, attended to, and valued.
- Handle any guest complaints or issues promptly and professionally, ensuring timely resolution.
- Maintain a positive rapport with regular guests and foster a culture of repeat business through exceptional service.
- Oversee table service, ensuring all steps of service are executed flawlessly and in line with our brand standards.
- Wine Program Support & Beverage Expertise :
- Leverage your wine knowledge to support the wine program, assisting with wine pairings, upselling, and providing staff with continuous wine education.
- Collaborate with the sommelier or beverage director to ensure the wine list complements the menu and is well-understood by the service staff.
- Work with bartenders and beverage staff to maintain the highest standards of presentation, storage, and service for wines and other beverages.
- Operational Management :
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations on the floor at all times.
- Monitor inventory levels for both service-related supplies and wine, assisting in ordering and restocking when necessary.
- Collaborate with the management team on service policies, guest relations strategies, and process improvements to optimize the dining experience.
- Conduct pre-shift meetings to communicate service priorities, VIP guests, and any other pertinent information for the day’s service.
Qualifications :
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a managerial role within a fine dining or upscale restaurant setting.
- Strong knowledge of wine, with formal training (such as WSET Level 2 or higher) preferred.
- Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team of service professionals.
- A passion for delivering world-class service and an eye for detail in all aspects of guest interactions.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with kitchen, bar, and management teams.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in a high-pressure environment while managing multiple priorities.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to upholding the restaurant's values and standards.
