Position Summary :

An excellent opportunity to be a part of a rapidly growing life insurance and reinsurance company’s dynamic Finance team.

This position is a key role within the valuation function of the organization and may have appointed actuary responsibilities.

This role would be involved in a broad spectrum of actuarial projects and tasks. This role requires the following :

  • Deep understanding of US Statutory, Tax, and GAAP reserve and NAIC required capital calculations for life, annuity, and long-term care products
  • Compliance with regulatory requirements and filings (e.g., annual statements, asset adequacy testing, principle-based reserving, actuarial guidelines)
  • Strong management skills, with proven track record of managing high-performing actuaries at various levels
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong critical, analytical, and strategic thinking and able to provide valuable insights to support business decisions
  • Self-motivated, able to work both independently and collaboratively, and able to prioritize required tasks appropriately

Role Responsibilities :

  • Manage, review, and analyze quarterly US Statutory, GAAP, and Tax reserves, capital, and related balances for a variety of life insurance and annuity products, including actual-to-expected analysis, adhering to regulatory and Company requirements and guidelines
  • Manage the annual asset adequacy testing and required filings (e.g., cash-flow testing, principle-based reserving, Actuarial Guideline filings)
  • Collaborate with other areas of Finance and the Company, to incorporate their inputs into the valuation process, and provide actuarial output and support to others for reporting, analysis, decision-making, and implementing financial strategies
  • Support the Company’s LDTI implementation, all model conversions from CASE and MG-ALFA to GGY-AXIS, and results analysis
  • Experience analysis and assumption proposal and implementation
  • Implement and / or test process and model improvements and updates
  • Interact with regulators and auditors during examinations and audits, addressing inquiries, and providing necessary documentation

Basic Qualifications :

  • Minimum 15 years of US Statutory and GAAP reserving, capital, and financial reporting experience within the life insurance industry
  • Experience with actuarial modelling systems, preferably GGY-AXIS, MG-ALFA, and CASE

Required Education / Certifications :

  • FSA designation
  • MAAA membership preferred

Base salary / hourly rate range for this position in Connecticut is between $175,000 and $225,000. Please note that specific compensation decisions are based upon a variety of job-related factors as permitted by law, including geographic location, credentials, skills, education, training and experience.
