R&D Chemist Intern - Summer 2025

OPPORTUNITY

The primary purpose of this position is to assist the TS&D chemists in completing their research projects and handling miscellaneous duties in the TS&D lab.

This position will uphold the Hydrite "Standards of Excellence" through continuous commitment to customer satisfaction, both internal and external.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Uphold Hydrite's Standard of Excellence through a continuous commitment to maintain quality
• facilities and provide quality products and services to internal and external customers
• Prepare samples for Distribution, FP, Water Treatment, and Foam Control.
• Practice good laboratory safety techniques.
• Assist chemists in completing lab requests and projects.
• Ship small quantities of hazardous materials.
• Perform all duties outlined in relevant SOPs and all other duties to be assigned.
• Participate in RCRA, regulatory, health & safety and process training activities as required. Review changes / additions with your supervisor.

Must be RCRA compliant.

• Maintain inventory of chemicals according to the Chemical Hygiene Plan.
• Ensure that all raw material containers are filled.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and instrumentation in good running order.
• Follow the safety rules as outlined in the Chemical Hygiene Plan.
• Works with other staff members to maintain workload balances. Provides back-up support as necessary.
• Supports effective communication with all Hydrite departments where responsibilities overlap to ensure success of the branch team

REPORTING STRUCTURE

This position reports to the Director of Technology

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL CRITERIA

• Must be studying to obtain a degree in Chemistry (Junior or Senior).
• Completion of following core Chemistry courses : Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and associated labs.
• Must possess good laboratory analytical skills.
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of MS Office.
• Able to apply advanced math skills and use involved problem solving.
• Must be self-motivated.
• Must have communication and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to read, write, and speak English.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must be able to stand for 4 hours at a time.
• Bend, twist, and squat on occasion.
• Climb ladders or stairs multiple times per day.
• Lift up to 50 pounds on occasion.
• Due to safety concerns, the wearing of contact lenses is prohibited.
