Job Description – Registered Nurse (RN), Labor & Delivery

Location : Charles City, IA

Department : Labor & Delivery (L&D)

Position Type : Contract

Shift : 12-Hour Nights | Thursday–Saturday | Every Other Weekend Blocked Schedule

Hours per Week : 36

Start Date : ASAP

Weekly Pay : $2,686 (including stipends)

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to laboring mothers and newborns.
  • Monitor maternal and fetal vital signs, progress of labor, and administer necessary medications.
  • Assist with labor support techniques, pain management, and delivery procedures.
  • Support physicians and midwives during deliveries, including emergent situations.
  • Provide postpartum care and education to mothers and their families.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.

    • Requirements

  • Active Iowa RN License or Compact State License .
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and AWHONN certifications required.
  • Minimum 1–2 years of recent L&D experience preferred.
  • Strong assessment, communication, and clinical decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work night shifts and every other weekend in a blocked schedule.

    • Compensation & Schedule

  • Hours : 36 per week, 12-hour night shifts.
  • Schedule : Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights, every other weekend.

    • Weekly Gross Pay : $2,686 (including stipends).
