Part Time Educator Job Summary

We are looking for enthusiastic educators to join our team. They will be responsible for designing and facilitating interactive STEAM learning experiences for field trips and for science center guests.

They should be passionate about expanding educational opportunities within the Central Valley and have a sincere desire to work with youth.

We are looking for someone who sees what needs doing and takes the initiative to get it done.

To be successful in this role, you should have :

• Experience with kids & teaching in either formal or informal environments (i.e., teaching, subbing, daycare, summer camps, tutoring, museums, etc.)
• Enthusiasm for working in an organization where change is frequent, structure is evolving, and flexibility, teamwork, and good humor are absolute necessities.
• Excellent interpersonal skills; must be receptive to the ideas of others and able to work cooperatively to prioritize tasks and accommodate many different and conflicting concerns.
• The ability to creatively and quickly problem solve to manage unexpected situations.
• Excellent communication skills (both in writing and oral).
• Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications and ability to learn new systems and adapt with emerging technologies.
• Some college experience (preferred).
• Spanish fluency is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate educational activities for K-12 students
• Collaborate with a team of other educators and animal care professionals to meet the organization’s mission
• Ensure a safe and positive learning environment
• Other Duties as Assigned

NOTE : Your planning / prepping working schedule is flexible but should be predictable. Final candidates will be asked to deliver a teaching demonstration as the last step of the interview.
