This position includes a total signing bonus of $1,000 payable as follows : $500 upon dedicated clinic placement, $250 following 6-months of employment and $250 following 12-months of employment with UMC Physicians.

Job Description :

The MA / CMA provides appropriate delegated nursing care to patients, under the guidance and supervision of a licensed health care provider.

This position is also responsible for performing activities that assist physicians, mid-level providers, nursing personnel and radiology technicians.

Essential Functions :

Conduct business in a professional manner and work as a team with other

members of the clinic

Deliver direct patient care to patients as assigned, using established

procedures

Document history; recording and reporting pertinent observations and

patient reactions to staff, as appropriate; document lab procedures and

ensure follow up on results

Use screening procedures, including medical history review, and observe

and document patient vital signs as required

  • Maintain quality results by running standards and controls
  • Prepare exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments
  • Verify equipment function through routine equipment maintenance and

advanced trouble-shooting; calibrate equipment utilizing approved testing

procedures; monitor quality control measures and protocols

  • Train other technicians or workers
  • Assist with or institute emergency measures for sudden adverse

developments during treatments

Performing other duties as assigned.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities :

Knowledge of examination, diagnostic, laboratory and treatment room

procedures

  • Common knowledge of safety hazards and precautions
  • Ability to read, understand and respond to detailed oral and written

instructions

  • Must be able to read and write medical terminology
  • Possess the ability to react calmly and effectively in emergencies
  • Must be able to take and record vital signs, maintain records, point-of-care

testing, record results, and administer injections.

Minimum Qualifications :

High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred qualifications :

  • CMA certification from the NHA, NAHP, AAMA, or NCCT
  • One-year experience as a Medical Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant in

a clinical setting

Environmental Conditions :

Works in a well-lit, heated and ventilated building. Exposure to blood borne pathogens may be high.

Physical Requirements :

Full range of body motion including lifting and handling patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.

This position requires standing and walking for extensive periods. Also, requires correct vision and hearing to normal ranges.

Occasionally lifts and carries up to 25 pounds. Works under stressful conditions and working irregular hours.
