Position Description : The Buyer is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, buying, and managing a wide range of purchase requisitions in support of production in a compliant manner aligned with internal policies and procedures.
In addition, aid and support to the Sr. Buyer and Materials Manager as directed or required.
- Maintain effective and proper relations with suppliers or their representatives.
- Place orders and determine requirements from engineering and production schedules.
- Monitor the movement of materials through the production cycle and maintain inventory at planned levels.
- Expedite the filling of orders by suppliers to meet production requirements.
- Administer basic procurement functions such as maintaining more than one source of supply, verifying that planned purchase orders link to demand, and suggesting changes or adjustments in quantities to take advantage of price breaks and trends.
- Release new requisitions as necessary for quotations and procurement to support the required delivery of parts or services.
- Participate in initiatives that will reduce the length of the supply chain, improve fill rates, and optimize inventory.
- Review and release work orders per system demand, manage the system-recommended messages, as well as maintain work order dates that adhere to the metrics for the organization.
- Regularly update work order due dates based on fluctuations in in-house capacity and the delivery schedules from vendors.
- Regularly update safety stock levels, order minimums, and order multiples in the system.
- Keep the Purchasing team aware of changes in the delays that would affect the lead time so that the system can be kept up to date.
- Perform other work-related tasks as assigned.
- Comply with all Company policies and procedures. Requirements :
- 3-5 years of Buying or Purchasing experience and / or an associate’s degree or equivalent 2-year college or technical school.
- Experience with ERP systems, Sage experience preferred.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite software : Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Prior experience with MRP software is preferred.
- Excellent problem-solving and resolution skills.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills including time and priority management.
- Regular attendance and reliability are required.
