Our Nurses work in collaborative environments with strong interdisciplinary teams, focused on a patient centered care model in a richly diverse work space.
Under the direction and general supervision of the Nurse Manager, the operating nurse utilizes evidence based practices in accordance with the State Nurse Practice Act, policies and procedures of the hospital and as directed by the medical staff.
The registered nurse who through knowledge and ability uses the nursing process to develop a place of care which includes standards of practice to meet the physical, emotional spiritual, cultural and educational needs of the patient and family.
In this role you will be working with patients in a busy Ambulatory Surgery center who cares for both the inpatient and outpatient population.
You will possess the ability to care for patients in the pre-operative and post-operative care setting. Be a part of an integral collaborative team in providing excellent care to our surgical patients.
Surgical Cases : General, Ortho / Spine, Robotics, Urology, Vascular, OB-GYN, Podiatry, Ophthalmology, Breast / Plastics
Qualifications
- Must have an Active Connecticut RN License.
- Must have CPR / BLS is required.
- Must have a minimum of an Associate's in Nursing. BSN is preferred.
- Registered Nurse with 1 year of experience in a perioperative setting as a circulating nurse.
- Requires a person who is highly motivated, energetic and organized, must be able to multitask.
Qualifications
Educational / Minimum Requirements :
- Must have an Active Connecticut RN License.
- Must have CPR / BLS is required.
- Must have a minimum of an Associate's in Nursing. BSN is preferred.
- Registered Nurse with 1 year of experience in a perioperative setting as a circulating nurse.
State / Federal Mandated Licensure or Certification Requirements :
Current State of Connecticut licensure as a Registered Nurse. Certification from a professional nursing body preferred.
Bristol Health Mandated Educational Requirements :
General orientation at time of hire. Fire / Safety / Infection Control annually. Healthcare Provider CPR from American Heart Association.
Successfully complete all training programs as determined by Learning & Development and Human Resources department. Other unit based competencies / skills as required.
Special Requirements :
Successfully complete unit based competency package, plus unit specific items.
Physical Requirements :
Physical agility with repetitive occurrence including but not limited to; walking, running, bending, stooping, climbing stairs, kneeling, crouching, crawling, balancing, reaching, standing, sitting, and twisting.
Lifting greater than 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the work day. Looking at a computer monitor. Vision acuity correctable to normal.
Hearing acuity correctable to normal. Acute sense of smell for normal perception. Ability to verbalize so that the average person can comprehend.
Work Environment :
Must be willing and able to work in a clinical setting. Must be willing and able to work in an environment where priorities can change quickly and be able to manage appropriately.
Must be willing and able to work with patients and be exposed to blood and other bodily fluids. Must be willing and able to work in an interdisciplinary team setting.
Cognitive Requirements :
Must possess excellent communication skills. Must be able to read both routine and technical information with comprehension.
Must be able to write so the average person can comprehend. Must be able to perform simple calculations for medication doses, physical exams and tests administered.
