Software Engineer III - DevOps Engineer
Job Description
We have an exciting and rewarding opportunity for you to take your software engineering career to the next level.
As a Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer and Community Banking, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way.
You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm's business objectives.
In particular, you will be part of a DevOps catalyst team focused on the ongoing transformation and adoption of automation initiatives specific to our CI / CD agenda for both on-prem and AWS.
You will aid in the alignment and enablement of strategic tool offerings within our engineering community while designing, building and delivering solutions where one does not exist.
You will be able to gain expertise on AWS Dev Ops, Groovy, Java Terraform, etc. while writing code and enhancing CI / CD library in Groovy.
You will also be working on innovative solutions for Blue Green and Canary deployment and implementing in pipeline for AWS.

Job responsibilities
- Facilitate application modernization through DevOps and CI / CD tool chain adoption and implementation.
- Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate manual processes and remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems.
- Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
- Creates secure and high-quality production code and maintains algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems
- Produces architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while being accountable for ensuring design constraints are met by software code development
- Proactively identifies hidden problems and patterns in data and uses these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture
- Troubleshooting and identify and mitigate difficult and complex technical problems and the coding skills to resolve those problems permanently through engineering and automation.
- Develops secure and high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others.
- Responsible for the scrum and release support.
- Contributes to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience
- Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
- Hands on experience with Kubernetes and groovy scripting knowledge apart from Java
- Involved in all aspects of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) including analyzing requirements, incorporating architectural standards into application design specifications, documenting application specifications, translating technical requirements into programmed application modules, and developing or enhancing software application modules.
- Proficient in coding in one or more languages
- Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages
- Take active role in code reviews to ensure solutions are aligned to pre-defined architectural specifications.
- Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle
- Solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI / CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
- Demonstrated knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- This position requires a high level of cloud and Kubernetes experience
- Infrastructure as Code tools such Terraform and CD tools such as Spinnaker
- Exposure to cloud technologies
Please note this position is a Hybrid Office Work Position with our Office in Plano. This is Not a Remote Only Position.
