We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Medical Assistant, Per Diem - Primary Care - Hempstead.
In this role, the successful candidate Prepares the exam room, equipment, and patient for the provider. Takes medical histories, records vital signs, explains treatment procedures, and assists providers during examinations.
May collect specimens using the correct protocol. Maintains the cleanliness of exam rooms, supplies, and completes required logs.
Updates and files patient's medical records, completes insurance forms, and other general administrative tasks. Inputs information to the electronic medical record (EMR).
Job Responsibilities :
Maintains order and cleanliness of examination rooms. Ensures par levels of supplies are maintained and disposes of expired supplies according to procedure.
Checks and completes required logs and equipment which may include refrigerator logs, eyewash logs, sample medications, AED, and other required checks.
- Monitors appointment schedule for timeliness and keeps provider aware of patient flow.
- Complies with all HIPPA guidelines, policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Prepares exam room and equipment for provider. Disinfects all clinical equipment and prepares instruments for examination or procedure.
- Escorts patient to the exam room. Reviews patient medical history, takes vital signs, height, weight, and screenings which may include vision, hearing, etc.
Documents information in the EMR. Ensures patient is properly undressed and draped.
- Assists provider during the examination. Provides instruments to providers, and assists patient after procedure examination.
- Collects all specimens using appropriate protocols such as infection control. Logs information into the computer, and labels and routes specimens according to standard procedure.
Ensures that results are received on all specimens submitted and notifies providers of lab results. Notifies patients of test andor lab results as directed by provider.
Minimum Qualifications :
To qualify you must have a High School Diploma or GED. 2 years Medical Assistant experience OR Graduate from Medical Assistant program.
Excellent communication (both written and oral), interpersonal, and customer service skills. Basic math and computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications :
Basic Life Support (BLS). Medical Assistant Certification. Knowledge of medical terminology.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
