CONTROLS ENGINEER

The Controls Engineers must be well-versed in control systems. They must be capable of taking a project from start to finish.

This would include meeting the customer to understand what the need is, contributing to the quotation, designing, building, commissioning and handing off the finished system.

This person must be proficient in PLC / HMI programming (Allen Bradley, Rockwell, Siemens). Writing abilities should include the writing of technical specifications and final system documents including Operation and Maintenance manuals.

The Controls Engineer contributes to the advancement of the Engineering Department's growth and success, emphasizing business unit expansion and project efficiency.

Responsibilities include requiring versatile skills in sales, estimating, project management, engineering, panel shop tasks, service calls, administration, and a commitment to maintaining exceptional customer service.

The role also entails ensuring operational efficiency, and actively contributing to the company's success through collaborative efforts and responsive communication.

PLC Programming experience is a must-have for this position.

The role is based in Sacramento, CA. Relocation assistance is not provided. Local travel required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

You will :

  • Write detailed specifications, design guides, and user manuals.
  • Design control systems for customers.
  • Program PLCs.
  • Build / program complete systems in-house and on-site.
  • Simulate, test, and debug systems in-house and on-site.
  • Install / startup systems at customer sites.
  • Provide system technical support over the phone or on-site.
  • Maintain schedules for all current projects.
  • Assume other duties upon request.

SKILLS / REQUIREMENTS

  • You should possess either an Engineering Degree in a relevant field or have a minimum of 2 years of industry experience.
  • You must have at least 2 years of experience in controls programming.
  • You need to exhibit strong interpersonal, communication abilities, coupled with excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • You should demonstrate innovation, motivation, confidence, and goal-oriented behavior while also showing positivity, flexibility, and agility within a challenging, fast-paced environment.
  • You are expected to drive tasks to completion at high standards, maintain timely communication, and be willing to work onsite when required.
