Sentara Martha Jefferson is hiring a Registered Nurse for our ICU . This is a Full -time night shift (12-hr shift) position in Charlottesville, VA.
Open to New Grad RN's who completed their capstone / practicum in ICU.

ICU Department Overview :
This is a mixed Critical Care (ICU) and Step down (IMCU) 15 bed unit. Qualified candidates will have a minimum of 18 months of critical care experience.
The unit has 15 private rooms with Phillips monitoring and state of the art Hil Rom technology with low air loss, continual lateral rotation, and percussion capabilities.
We serve a broad range of patient conditions and provide services for neurology, cardiology, gastroenterology, oncology, nephrology, and surgical patients.
We also have a phenomenal palliative care team that help guide our nurses with that special touch at end of life. We have critical care NP / PA on sight 24 / 7 and have daily interdisciplinary rounds where the nurses provide valuable input and add insight to their patient’s care.
We are a primary plus stroke center. We provide care based on the American Stroke Association (ASA) treatment guidelines for the early management of adults with ischemic or hemorrhagic stroke.
Some other specialty highlights include ventriculostomy monitoring, NICOM, balloon pump, transvenous pacing, CRRT, and many more.
Requirements :
- RN License- Required
- 2 years of experience- Preferred
- Critical Care experience- 18 months.
- Degree or Diploma from an accredited registered nursing program- required
- ACLS certification
- BLS certification

Sentara considers you a new graduate RN if you are about to graduate or have graduated and have less than one year of practice.
Qualified students will be graduating or have graduated from an accredited nursing program. All new graduate RNs are automatically enrolled into our Residency Program upon hire.
This 12-month, immersive program provides guidance from trained preceptors and offers nursing development support, practice-based learning, and networking with peers.

Job Summary
The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process.
The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice / nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing.
The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
BSN or MSN preferred. Meets and maintains any requirements defined by specific specialty; Critical Care / IMCU ACLS within 1 year of hire;
Emergency Care - ACLS & PALS or ENPC within 1 year of hire; Oncology Care ONS / ONCC or Sentara approved course Chemotherapy & Biotherapy Provider Card within 6 months of hire.
Women's Care - Perinatal departments; NRP within 6 months of hire. Inpatient Pediatrics. PALS within 6 months of hire. All Direct Care RN's required to have BLS within 90 days of hire.
