Laboratory Technician
Description of Duties :
Under general supervision, performs routine and component testing to support total lab operations.
POSITION SUMMARY
- Performs chemical and failure analysis of metallurgical samples.
- Assist and manages projects related to materials evaluation.
- Performs test data processing utilizing MS Word and MS Excel.
- Performs calculations, recording, and verifying of metallographic standards.
- Calibrates and sets-up standardized material / metallographic testing stations.
- Testing metal samples to determine their physical properties.
- Preparing specimens by grinding, polishing, and etching.
- Viewing samples using optical microscopy equipment.
Education, Experience and Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- 3-5 years’ experience in materials testing in a materials lab
- Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to relate to topics which require an acute understanding or specialized knowledge.
- Central Coatings Laboratory certification and familiarity with Lean and Six Sigma methodologies are a plus.
- Experiences with metal or composite testing is strongly preferred
