Must-Have : Cerner experience, C-section circulating experience

Description :

The position requires experience in Cerner for electronic medical records.

The unit consists of labor and delivery as well as postpartum care.

There are a total of 8 labor and delivery beds with an additional 6 overflow beds and 7 triage beds.

Postpartum services include 40 beds for mother / baby, antepartum, and gynecological patients.

Annually, the unit experiences 1800 to 2000 births.

Certifications required include BLS, NRP for postpartum care, and advanced certifications for labor and delivery.

Labor and delivery nurse ratios are 1 : 2 for laboring patients and 1 : 1 for deliveries with 1 : 3 for triage patients.

For postpartum care, the ratio is 1 : 4 couplets.

Charge nurses may take patient assignments while overseeing nursing care.

OB technicians assist for C-section scrubs and patient care in labor and delivery.

Every other weekend is required, with holidays rotating among staff.

The scrubs provided in labor and delivery differ from those in postpartum care.

There is potential for telemetry monitoring of mothers, but nurses are not responsible for fetal strips.

There are no respiratory therapy or IV teams onsite, but respiratory therapy and pharmacy support are available 24 / 7.

Shifts include both day and night hours, with required experience in circulating for C-sections.

Postpartum floating is expected, and orientation includes 1-2 shifts with a preceptor.

Common patient diagnoses involve standard labor, multiple births, high-risk cases, vacuum-assisted deliveries, and VBACs.

The facility promotes a baby-friendly environment, and C-sections are attended by various specialist teams.

The hospital reserves the right to cancel shifts as per assigned contractual guidelines.
