The Director of Day and Vocational Services is an exempt, full-time benefitted position that offers a Monday through Friday schedule with no holidays or weekends.

This position requires 20% travel with the ability to office out of Fargo, Jamestown, Minot or Bismarck / Mandan with a preference of the Mandan / Bismarck area.

This position is an in-person position with a flexible full-time schedule. The Director of Day and Vocational Services will be responsible for the planning, development and implementation of Easter Seals Goodwill ND, Inc.

ESGWND) day support and vocational services programs for persons with disabilities and / or disadvantages. The Director of Day and Vocational Services will oversee and coordinate day and vocational services through planning, organizing, directing and controlling all aspects of the programs.

The Director of Day and Vocational Services will ensure the proper delivery of services and compliance with the program design. Essential Functions :

  • Be fully aware and positively promote the Mission, Vision and Values of ESGWND.
  • Coordinate the marketing and growth development of the Adult Day Services program(s).
  • Coordinate, supervise and develop employment opportunities for individuals through entrepreneur opportunities, employer contacts, public relations, community interaction, referral agencies and marketing initiatives.
  • Develop community collaborations, linkages and partners to address systemic issues that impact participants receiving services.

Develop and maintain effective relationships within the community networks.

  • Ensure quality programming that is culturally relevant, age appropriate and maximizes independence and person supported choice.
  • Maintain and coordinate the Council on Quality Leadership (CQL) accreditation process, oversee quality assurance of services and monitor proper completion of all required documentation and data for services.
  • Recruit, hire, train and manage assigned Team Members and volunteers in a manner consistent with organizational policies and values.

Conduct regular Team Member performance appraisals and maintain a Team Member feedback process to enhance work processes and Team Member understanding.

  • Schedule Team Members to maintain the required staffing ratios.
  • Promote the professional and personal development of Team Members. Model expected behaviors and serve in a mentoring role to Team Members.
  • Have a strong knowledge of adult learning principles.
  • Comply with all grants, government contracts, federal and state employment laws, contracts, donor agreements and reporting requirements.
  • Monitor and take action within the scope of authority for day and vocational services.
  • Strong knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements for in-home caregivers.
  • Ability to follow guidelines set by the North Dakota Department of Human Services, Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) and the Department of Labor.

Qualifications / Basic Position Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and / or in related field.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience working as a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) or five (5) years as a QDDP (Qualified Developmental Disability Professional) with emphasis in program planning and development and management skills.
  • Familiarity with the North Dakota State Plan for Developmental Disabilities and the Home and Community Based Services for the Aged and Disabled.
  • Experience in training, teaching and public speaking also helpful.
  • Excellent communication skills and facilitation skills.
  • Computer savvy.
  • Detailed-oriented.
  • Must have a take-charge attitude and be able to manage projects, change priorities and meet stringent deadlines.
  • Plan, organize, prioritize and coordinate work assignments.
  • Interact effectively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Analyze, problem solve, make decisions and accept direction from President and CEO.
  • Maintain accurate information and efficient record keeping systems.
