Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners are dedicated team members responsible for assisting a variety of patients by evaluating medical and psychosocial conditions and overseeing the development and implementation of treatment plans.
The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to take care of the mental, emotional or behavioral disorders for patients engaged in services.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES :
Provide evidence-based evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of patients including prescribing medications and / or other psychotherapeutic interventions
Provide treatment either independently or with physician supervision in accordance with Massachusetts regulations
Develop treatment plans, measure progress against the plans, and make adjustments as needed
Provide crisis intervention as needed
Complete all necessary clinical documentation in an accurate and timely manner
Collaborate with a broader team of physicians, nurses, social workers, psychologists, and occupational therapists to assess and adjust treatment plans
Coordinate and communicate with case managers, family members and other stakeholders regarding treatment and care
Participate in the teaching of students and other trainees
Participate in departmental and organizational quality improvement programs
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Must Have :
2 years MINIMUM of NP experience in an adult, inpatient psychiatric setting - will not consider submissions with less than 2 years NP experience
Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts or ability to obtain reciprocity prior to start
Current advanced practice certification by Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing- approved nationally recognized certifying body
Buprenorphine waiver required or willingness to acquire waiver & Current valid DEA certificate and MA Controlled Substances certificate or eligibility to obtain prior to start
No Medicare or Medicaid sanctions
Education :
Master’s Degree from a Nurse Practitioner education program (with specialization in mental health) accredited by a Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing-recognized national accreditation body
Experience :
Two years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner or five years of experience in Nursing preferred but candidates who have a strong interest in working with patients who come from underserved populations are encouraged to apply
Licensure :
Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
Current valid DEA certificate and MA Controlled Substances certificate or eligibility to obtain it prior to start
Buprenorphine waiver required or willingness to acquire waiver
Certification :
Current advanced practice certification by Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing- approved nationally recognized certifying body
