HOW YOU WILL IMPACT OUR MISSION
The Desktop Engineer Supervisor leads the Desktop Engineer Team to develop, maintain, and upgrade automated systems to enable department users to manage information;
provide ongoing technical assistance for user problem resolution, and maintain existing hardware and software. This position reports to the Associate Director of Infrastructure.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Oversee Desktop staff including but not limited to, interviewing, hiring, training and performance management.
- Perform troubleshooting / problem diagnosis of desktop / laptop software, including operating systems, application software and Peripherals.
- Configure and install desktop / laptop operating system and application specific software ( MS Office, Gateway Ticketing, Timeline, terminal emulation, etc.
and Computer Peripherals.
- Install localized (desktop / workgroup) network equipment (switches / routers).
- Support and maintain virtual patch testing environment for the deployment to desktop and remote computers.
- Develop and maintain operating system images in a machine-agnostic environment.
- Assist with the disposal of electronic waste material.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR? JOB EXPERIENCE
- 1+ years of experience in the support of Client desktop environment.
- 1+ years experience leading a End User Tech Team.
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Associate's Degree or training in computer science or equivalent specialized training required.
- A+ certification preferred.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
- Strong technical background in a diverse range of Information Technology Application Systems.
- Network systems and network hardware / software knowledge.
- Able to communicate effectively with a high level of tact and professionalism.
- Able to work independently and as a member of a team in a diverse environment.
- Able to handle multiple projects with competing deadlines.
- Strong working knowledge of highly complex computer software and hardware.
