Job Description

Scribe Therapeutics is a molecular engineering company focused on creating best-in-class in vivo therapies that permanently treat the underlying cause of disease.

Founded by CRISPR inventors and leading molecular engineers Benjamin Oakes, Brett Staahl, David Savage, and Jennifer Doudna, Scribe is overcoming the limitations of current genome editing technologies by developing custom engineered enzymes and delivery modalities as part of a proprietary, evergreen CRISPR by Design platform for CRISPR-based genetic medicine.

Scribe Therapeutics is seeking a candidate with experience in formulation and downstream processing of lipid nanoparticles and biophysical assessment of the LNP systems.

The candidate will join as a Research Associate II with the Process Sciences team to develop formulations for its CRISPR by Design platform.

The ideal candidate should have a good understanding of lipid nanoparticle formulations by various mixing and downstream processing techniques.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Formulate and characterize lipid nanoparticle (LNP) formulations both at small and large scales.
  • Assist team to generate LNP formulations for in-house and R&D requirements.
  • Data analysis using statistical software such as GraphPad PRISM, JMP, etc.
  • Effectively collaborate within various groups and map out future needs and manage procurement of materials.
  • Maintain detailed records of experimental protocols and data in electronic laboratory notebook.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as required will be assigned based on the needs of the team.

Required Skills and Background :

  • BS with 2-4 years of experience, or MS with 1 year of experience in an academic / industry setting. Degrees in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related discipline.
  • Experience with nanoparticles downstream processing, such as dialysis, Tangential Flow Filtration (TFF), centrifugal processing, and sterile filtration techniques.
  • Experience with drug delivery, bioconjugation, and surface modification chemistry are an asset.
  • Experience with lipid nanoparticles formulation and characterization.
  • Excellent collaborative and communication skills and a good team player.
  • Critical thinking and a mindset to deep dive into the LNP and gene editing field are the most desirable skills.

Preferred Skills :

  • Familiarity with CRISPR technologies and therapeutic approaches.
  • Knowledge of lipid chemistry, self-assembly characteristics, and their interaction with oligonucleotides.
  • Ability to run methods and characterization techniques such as Particle size analysis, RNA content analysis, Osmometer, Agarose-Gel, Western Blot, UV-Vis Spectroscopy, UPLC-CAD, Bioanalyzer, ELISA, and 96 well plate-based assays.
  • Knowledge and experience using ChemDraw, GraphPad, JMP are preferred.
