George Fox University's University Advancement Department seeks a strategic, collaborative, mission-driven professional to serve as the Assistant Director of Annual Giving.

About the Job :

Under the direction of the Director of Engagement, the Assistant Director of Annual Giving is responsible for overseeing a robust annual giving strategy for the advancement team.

A successful Assistant Director has excellent communication skills, loves sharing stories to move people to action through a variety of mediums, and uses data to successfully determine markets and messaging.

In this role, the Assistant Director will oversee a small portfolio of donors.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to :

  • Strategic Solicitation : Working with other members of the Advancement Team to identify priority affinity groups and lead multi-channel solicitation efforts that help to achieve the fundraising goals and priorities of the University. (65%)
  • Data Analysis : Developing and assessing measurable goals for all strategic solicitation efforts. (15%)
  • Leadership Solicitation : Identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding a small number of individual donors. (15%)
  • Collaboration and Professional Development : Through study and networking with Annual Giving programs at peer institutions, understanding best practices and latest developments in your field and seeking to become excellent at your craft. (5%)
  • Communicating effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students, and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service.
  • By actions, words, and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.
  • Demonstrating awareness, respect, and appreciation for diversity of culture, background, race, sex, political views, expressions of faith, etc.

A day in the life of this position :

The Assistant Director of Annual Giving works closely with advancement leaders and partners across campus to execute an engaging fundraising program.

In this collaborative role, the Assistant Director might be interviewing students to learn about needs and turning those stories into compelling letters.

They might be digging into reports and data to assess audience and messaging, to identify lapsed donors, and to understand the success of past campaigns.

They would be overseeing several mailed campaigns a year, and have creative input about digital fundraising efforts, too.

The Assistant Director also gets to work one-on-one with a handful of donors, stewarding them towards meaningful support of the mission of George Fox

We're looking for candidates who have :

  • A Bachelor's degree required or equivalent.
  • Three (3) or more years related work experience.
  • Knowledge of constituent relations, preferably in a higher education setting.
  • A high level of creativity and problem solving.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively in the English language, both verbally and in written form.
  • A great attention to detail and organization skills.
  • Experience providing exceptional customer service and responsiveness to requests from constituents.
  • The availability to and willingness to work evenings and weekends to support events, as well as travel when appropriate.
  • A personal commitment to Jesus Christ and express their Christian testimony in a church. In addition, employees agree to live in agreement with the Community Lifestyle Statement and affirm the theological commitments expressed in the Statement of Faith.

Job information :

  • Hours Per Week : 40 hours (1.0 FTE)
  • May be required to work evenings and weekends as necessary.
  • Primary Work Location : Newberg Campus
  • Working Conditions : Physical requirements are those of a normal office environment.
