Building Inspector
About the Role :
We are seeking a highly qualified Building Inspector with a minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in commercial building inspection.
This job is specifically for inspection assessments for bus and rail transportation facilities.
Lead Facility Inspector :
The facility inspector shall have ten (10) years commercial building inspection experience with demonstratable knowledge and past experience inspecting the substructure, shell, interiors, conveyance, plumbing, HVAC, fire protection, electrical, equipment / fare collection and site work of a building or station.
The responsibilities of this individual shall include, but not be limited to :
- Performing field inspections.
- Responsible charge of the inspection team.
- Analysis of all findings ascertained by inspection reports.
- Auditing of inspection reports to ensure their thoroughness and quality.
Assistant Facility Inspector :
The assistant facility inspector shall have five (5) years commercial building inspection or commercial appraising experience with demonstratable knowledge and past experience
inspecting the substructure, shell, interiors, conveyance, plumbing, HVAC, fire protection, electrical, equipment / fare collection and site work of a building.
The responsibilities of this individual shall include, but not be limited to :
- Performing field inspections.
- Compiling of preliminary field inspection reports for presentation to the Lead Facility Inspector and maintaining original records, including detailed field notes, of all inspection data gathered.
- Documenting list of invitees, meeting minutes and list of attendees for meetings with Metro staff at occupied locations.
Qualifications applicable to all positions :
- Must have and maintain a valid California driver’s license.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, to climb irregular embankments and ladders, to lift objects not exceeding OSHA weight regulations, and ability to distinguish colors.
- Have the ability to communicate in written and verbal English language.
- Required to pass pre-employment physical examination, which includes blood, hair and / or urine testing to comply with Contractor’s drug / safety testing program
- Candidates must have up-to-date certification in Metro Rail Safety training and Metro Wayside Worker Protection training.
For those who do not currently hold this certification, we will cover the cost of the required 6-hour training.
- Building certifications, such as ICC Certifications in Commercial Building Inspections (Structural, Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing) or other relevant Building Inspection Certifications.
- OSHA 10-hour certification is required for the Assistant Inspector, and OSHA 30-hour certification is required for the Lead Inspector.
We will cover the cost of OSHA training for those who do not currently meet this requirement.
