Role Summary

Newly created due to growth, we are seeking a Vice President to come and join our Commercial Casualty division within the United States.

Role Accountabilities

Underwriting Strategy

  • Support leadership in devising a synchronous underwriting strategy identifying target speciality classes of business that complement our various direct underwriting operations.
  • Supporting building a balanced portfolio across several high-target speciality segments.
  • Align to all reinsurance, operational, actuarial, risk and claims strategies and protocols.

Distribution Management

  • Support the creation and execution of an appropriate distribution plan.
  • Identify target relationships and work to cultivate these in pursuit of our growth objectives.

Program Management

  • Establish client service standards at the inception of each new Portfolio opportunity.
  • Create documentation requirements for Captives and Programs, help negotiate and maintain all Program Management Agreements and ensure standardization of procedures.
  • Conduct regular audits as per the agreed schedule with portfolio partners.
  • Manage all referrals outside of delegated authorities. Such management may include collaboration with key underwriting personnel residing in other Rokstone Entities.
  • Conduct regular portfolio analysis, peer review and measurement of key performance indicators on all programs.
  • Report summary findings from the above actions and implement timely underwriting strategies to ensure profit objectives are maintained.
  • Establish and maintain a robust, efficient, and modern operating platform.
  • Engage with Legal, IT, Claims, and other support services to ensure a robust operating platform in the due diligence, onboarding and oversight phases.

Role Requirements

  • Over 10 years' experience in Underwriting specialising in Commerical Casualty.
  • Must have over 10 years of underwriting and portfolio management experience.
  • Degreed educated.
  • Experience working for an insurer, MGA or Lloyd’s syndicate.

Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent communication, organizational and time-management skills.
  • Team worker with the ability to work on their initiative.
  • Strong analytic skills across core finance, and actuarial concepts along with strong data skills.
