Job Description
Android Developer Experience is responsible for building and providing all necessary infrastructure and tools to ensure Cash App’s Android development can continue to be fast and efficient at scale.
We're looking for folks who are excited to problem solve and find solutions that empower hundreds of mobile developers to move more quickly than our competitors.
Engineering efficiency is particularly important for Cash App’s ability to continuously ship high quality software, so we strive to ensure our development tools enable developers to ship their features with speed and confidence.
This is a high force multiplier, cross-functional team aiming to enhance the development experience for all mobile developers within Cash App.
You will :
- Innovate to amplify the efficiency of our mobile developers to develop, build, test, and release high quality features to our customers.
- Use a metrics-driven approach to identify key performance bottlenecks in the development experience including the build system, IDE integrations, testing frameworks, and pull request workflows
- Define the scope and the priorities of the team by identifying opportunities to decrease build times, reduce infrastructural complexity, and improve the developer experience
- Optimize the performance, reliability, and usability of our CI pipeline
- Own the success of your team's projects, and deliver quantifiable results on schedule
Qualifications
You Have :
- 8+ years of software development experience
- BA / BS degree or equivalent practical, working experience
- Exceptional ability to thrive in collaborative environments and foster a culture of open dialogue and mutual understanding
- Familiarity with build systems (e.g. Gradle, Buildkite) and CI tools
- Experience with supporting build or CI systems infrastructure (ideally at scale)
- Excellent software engineering aptitude and the ability to provide technical mentorship and guidance
- Experience building apps for Android in Java / Kotlin
- A commitment to continuous improvement (yourself, your teammates, your software)
Technologies we use and teach :
- Kotlin, including Multiplatform with Zipline & Treehouse
- CI / CD technologies for building, testing, and publishing; including Buildkite, Github Actions, JUnit, Artifactory
- Build tooling, including Gradle, custom Gradle Plugins, and OSS Gradle Plugins like SQLDelight, Wire, Paparazzi, AGP
Additional Information
Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area.
The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions.
These ranges may be modified in the future.
Zone A : USD $198,000 - USD $297,000
Zone B : USD $188,100 - USD $282,100
Zone C : USD $178,200 - USD $267,400
Zone D : USD $168,300 - USD $252,500
