POSITIONSUMMARY : The chaplain provides spiritual care topatients, families and associates reaching across religious andcultural boundaries.
Provides ethical and spiritual guidance topatients and families to help make treatment choices. Promotes aspiritual environment within the hospital byparticipating / organizing prayer services on special occasions,prayer in patient waiting areas and through the PA system.
Theabove ministry goals are accomplished by the chaplain by visitingpatients in assigned areas, providing follow-up ministry as needed,by taking spiritual care calls, making sacramental referral topriest chaplain, making appropriate notations and by keepingrequired professional expertise and skillsupdated.
Requirements
MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS :
EDUCATION : GraduateTheological Degree (MDIV or Equivalent)
CERTIFICATION / LICENSES : Minimum of four units of Clinical Pastoral Education(ACPE approved). Certification as a chaplain required by anaccredited Chaplaincy Organization.

- Understanding of Ethical and Religious Directives forCatholic Health Care Services
- Demonstrateshonesty consistently in all relationships
- Ability to work in stressful environment
- Excellent oral and written communication, presentationand interpersonal skills
- Is knowledgeableabout department policies and procedures
- Ability to use computer, printer, telephone, etc. whenneeded.
EXPERIENCE : Three yearsof experience in hospital or hospice ministry.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS : Workmay require walking, sitting and standing. Subject to irregularhours. May require lifting, pushing, or pulling up to 20lbs.
