Essential Functions
- Perform all aspects of satellite communications system operation, maintenance, preventive maintenance and logistical support, and follows all Quality Control (QC) guidance.
- Enforce quality control standards when performing electronic equipment installation, repair or modification.
- Perform or assist in the installation of new equipment and systems.
- Operate, maintain, test, troubleshoot, repair, replace, configure, and reconfigure a Defense Satellite Communications System and the following types of related or ancillary systems : Controller interfaces, analog to digital converters, fiber optic / copper interface systems, Timing systems, Satellite modems, Military standard / commercial interface converters, multiplexers, modulators and demodulators, frequency converters, transmitters (HPA’s and SSPA’s), low noise receivers, RF combiners and splitters, precision timing distribution systems, COMSEC devices, antenna control systems and subsystems.
- Activate, test, and maintain permanent and temporary circuits to support Reagan Test Site, Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), Army Space Command, and Executive service communications.
- Respond and follow the operational directions from DISA and SATCOM Network Control Elements.
- Perform shift work, as SATCOM is a 24 / 7 operation.
- Acts as a mentor and provides guidance to junior personal

Required Skills
- Proven ability to competently and quickly resolve communication anomalies between SATCOM system elements, and interconnected telecommunication nodes.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively operate and troubleshoot military communications systems and satellite links utilizing military Technical Standard Orders (TSO), Technical Manuals (TM), and schematic diagrams.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively use various electronic test equipment to include multimeters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, frequency generators and counters, network analyzers, Firebird and T-Bird test sets, and optical test sets to effectively perform preventive and corrective
maintenance actions.
Knowledge of X / K / Ka / C band military SATCOM, DISA, HPA's, TWT's,
AN / FSC-39, 52, 78 SATCOM Terminals.
- Knowledge of DISA procedures, regulations, and circulars
- Exceptional judgment, decision-making, and interpersonal skills, desired.
- Technical writing skills to produce, edit and maintain prints, circuit drawings, schematics, diagrams, and manuals in accordance with DISA and Army requirements.
- Ability to safely and effectively use various power tools
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent, desired.
Required Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Bachelor of Science degree in a Communications / Electronics or related Technical field, desired.
- Graduate of The Military Satellite Communications System Operations / Maintenance Course or equivalent.
- Five or more years relevant X / K / Ka / C band military SATCOM terminal experience. Work experience with military AN / FSC-39, 52, 78, or MET SATCOM terminals, desired.
- Security Plus Certification or equivalent, desired.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
- Must have and be able to maintain a DoD Secret security clearance, which includes U.S. Citizenship.
- Must be able to relocate to the United States Army Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. passport
- This position is unaccompanied.
