JOB DESCRIPTION
The Nurse Manager is responsible for the management of nursing practice and operations on a designated unit / service. This includes, but is not limited to, the management of : clinical nursing practice, staff recruitment, retention, labor relations, supply chain and budget, staffing, employee performance evaluation, quality improvement, staff education, medical records, internal and external regulatory and survey requirements.
The Nurse Manager collaborates with multiple professionals to support and coordinate the provision / management of patient care.
He or she works closely with the Nursing Clinical Director, unit Dyad partner and staff in insuring that the Service / Unit maintains the highest standards of patient care and is responsive to the needs of the patient & family as well as the organization.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee the administrative and operational duties of a 24-bed Pediatric Acute Care Medical Surgical and out-patient Clinic with 40 FTEs.
Staff Management, recruitment, retention, labor relations, employee performance evaluation, staff education, and staff schedules.
Performance / quality improvement projects, internal and external regulatory and survey requirements.
Maintenance of OMH / JCAHO Standards and implementation and evaluation of Quality Performance Initiatives.
Patient experience / satisfaction.
Supply chain and unit budget.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor of Science with a major in nursing required; master?s in nursing, leadership or health-related field or proof of enrollment required.
Must have relevant clinical competence in the area of oncology and Hematology.
Must have relevant clinical competence in the area of pediatrics.
3-5 years of nursing clinical care with Charge Nurse / Supervisory experience preferred.
Licensed as a registered nurse with current registration in New York State.
Basic Life Support (BLS) Issuing Agency : AHA
Pediatric Advanced life Support (PALS) Issuing Agency : AHA
Nurse Executive Certification (NE-BC) Preferred.
Certified Pediatric Nurse Certification (CPN) preferred
