George Fox University's Career & Academic Planning Center is seeking a dynamic and collaborative individual to serve as the Assistant Director of the Career & Academic Planning Center.
About the Job :
The Assistant Director of the Career and Academic Planning (CAP) Center plays a key role in supporting the academic and career development of students.
This position focuses on fostering partnerships, overseeing daily operations, and implementing strategic initiatives to equip students for academic success and career readiness.
The Assistant Director collaborates with faculty, staff, and community partners to provide resources and programs that align with the university's mission of preparing students spiritually, academically, and professionally.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
- Career Development & Academic Success (50%)
- Providing academic coaching to traditional undergraduate students in multiple majors, assisting them in setting educational goals, developing plans to accomplish those goals, and providing guidance to ensure completion of graduation requirements in a timely fashion.
- Formulating, and bi-annually updating, academic roadmaps for assigned students, ensuring timely completion of degree requirements.
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of academic policies, majors, minors, and program requirements, and collaborating with the CAP Center staff on tasks such as updating academic roadmaps, registration strategies, and verifying course offerings.
- Providing professional coaching to help students develop strategies for career development, including resume writing, interview techniques, job search strategies, and professional networking.
- Supporting students in aligning academic experiences with career aspirations, guiding them through the exploration of career paths and vocational calling.
- Program Development & Management (25%)
- Researching and implementing data-informed student success strategies that support student retention and graduation.
- Assisting in developing, managing, and evaluating academic and career planning programs, events, and workshops that promote student success and career readiness.
- Aiding with the hiring, onboarding, and training of CAP Center staff.
- Collaborating with faculty, staff, and external partners to integrate academic planning with career exploration.
- Serving on campus committees, such as Student Support Network, to represent the CAP Center and supporting student success initiatives across the university.
- Team Leadership & Supervision (15%)
- Assisting the Director in managing the day-to-day operations of the CAP Center to ensure efficient service delivery.
- Supervising and mentoring student interns, providing guidance on career development projects and initiatives.
- Acting as a liaison between CAP Center and other university departments, fostering collaboration and the exchange of center-related resources.
- Data Analysis & Strategic Planning (10%)
- Collecting and analyzing data on student experience, engagement, and outcomes to assess the effectiveness of programs and services.
- Assisting the Director in developing long-term goals and strategic plans for the CAP Center.
- Communicating effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students, and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service.
- By actions, words, and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.
- Demonstrating awareness, respect, and appreciation for diversity of culture, background, race, sex, political views, expressions of faith, etc.
and works well with a variety of people.

We're looking for candidates who have :
- A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
- At least 2 years of experience in a customer focused environment.
- Proficiency with technology and data entry.
- The demonstrated ability to work as a team member to accomplish organizational and unit goals.
- Effective oral and written communication skills and ability to deal with the public and campus community in a helpful and courteous manner;
ability to obtain and use information with tact and discretion.
- Strong organizational skills and the demonstrated ability to work independently on multiple tasks with a high degree of accuracy.
- The ability to understand and administer curricular requirements.
- Experience in developing and student / academic success programs.
- The ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, and external partners.
