Overall Description

Reporting to the VP of Advancement, the Marketing and Event Director is a member of the management team and is responsible for creating and implementing a comprehensive marketing, communications, and public relations program that will enhance the foundation’s narrative, image, and position within the community.

This individual supports Sanneh’s internal and external communications, supporting marketing and branding content to drive audience growth and stakeholder awareness.

This position provides a day-to-day operational capacity of advancement and organizational initiatives, supporting strategic project direction to all Sanneh staff members including AmeriCorps VISTA volunteers, ensures Sanneh’s brand, story, and impact each accurately depicts the mission, vision, and values.

Role and Responsibilities

Communications Management

Assist the Advancement team with developing and executing a comprehensive marketing plan focused on strengthening the brand and growing the organization’s public awareness, including three, six, and nine-month project benchmarks.

Work plans should remain fluid and balance both standing and immediate priorities with long-term strategic goals of program success, resource development, and public awareness.

Comprehensive marketing plans should bring enhanced organization and professionalism to the organization through the ongoing definition and implementation of creative standards and practices.

  • Ensure articulation of the foundation’s desired image, position, and communication of Sanneh’s brand throughout the foundation and to all internal and external audiences.
  • Responsible for editorial direction, design, production, and distribution of all foundation publications including brochures, flyers, event assets, and program collateral.
  • Audit the appearance of all foundation print and electronic materials such as letterhead, logo placement, and third-party (i.

e., partner collateral, billboard) content to ensure compliance and adherence to style guides and brand.

  • Oversee and manage the foundation’s online presence which includes direct email and social media marketing campaigns, website content creation and maintenance, and social media / paid advertising.
  • Conduct and oversee regular and relevant market research to ensure effective brand positioning.
  • Lead annual projects such as cause- and special events-related marketing, including the creation of sponsorship and event-specific collateral to support fund- and friend-raising efforts.
  • Ensure that evaluation systems are in place related to marketing / communications / public relations goals, objectives, and report progress to the VP of External Affairs & Community Partnerships and other members of the Advancement team as needed.
  • Keep informed of tactical and strategic developments in the fields of nonprofit marketing, email messaging, sponsorship sales strategy, social media metrics, audience and peer-to-peer engagement, website performance, social media listening, and digital advertising.

Marketing Management

  • Create, manage and update Advancement and program marketing databases for all fundraising events.
  • Assess organizational needs related to communications and marketing, providing recommendations to the Advancement team.
  • Survey and monitor event attendees, volunteers, donors, and supporters’ experiences.
  • Support donor and funder printed and electronic appeals and campaigns.
  • Collaborate with program managers to develop and implement an effective annual marketing and recruitment strategy for annual programming benefiting youth and families.

Events

  • Support the successful execution of two major fundraising campaigns : Gala4Goals and Golf4Goals.
  • Serve as event liaison with corporate sponsors, current and prospective supporters, volunteers, and offsite vendor / event personnel.
  • Manage and / or support any event or volunteer activities at Conway Community Center or in the community as supported by Sanneh, and / or as directed.
  • Assess organizational needs related to communications and events, providing recommendations to the Advancement team.
  • Provide proactive expense analysis and support the creation of annual event budgets.

Operations (Advancement)

  • Participate as needed in departmental and cross-functional (i.e., strategic planning) projects or other workgroups.
  • Provide administrative support related to advancement, fundraising, and supporter relations.
  • Develop short-term and long-term plans and budgets for the marketing and communications program and its activities, monitor progress, assure adherence and evaluate performance.
  • Support the supervision of VISTA team members
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree
  • Experience in a creative and / or nonprofit organization.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills.
  • Demonstrated successful experience making presentations, managing marketing and communications initiatives, and convening audiences, committees, media, vendor, and event teams.
  • Experience overseeing the design and production of print materials and electronic publications.
  • Strong creative, strategic, and analytical skills.
  • Experience developing and managing budgets, training, developing, and appraising personnel.
  • Experience in digital content development and inbound demand creation through videos, blogs, PR, social media, ad-words, and website design.
  • Experience with Constant Contact, Bloomerang (CRM), APIs, and Adobe InDesign desktop publishing software is a plus.

Skills, Competencies, and other Requirements

  • Technical literacy in word processing and G-Suite / office tools, Adobe Suite, Canva, MailChimp, Word Press, project management, databases, and marketing design.
  • Commitment to working with shared leadership and in cross-functional teams.
  • Must be highly respectful, confidential, and accountable in all situations.
  • Ability to manage and follow through on multiple projects at a time.
  • Must demonstrate a strong work ethic and be highly dependable and responsible.
