The optometrist examines, diagnoses and corrects to maximum efficiency patients’ medical and routine visual problems. Treats patients, as appropriate, having a full range of eye problems and prescribes correction ranging from simple single vision lenses through prisms and ophitic lenses.
QUALIFICATIONS :
- A license to practice Optometry issued by the State Board of Optometry.
- Current BLS from the American Heart Association.

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Interviews, examines and treats patients having a full range of vision problems.
- Determines such things as patients’ visual acuity; accommodation and refractive state at far and near point.
- Conducts anterior segment tonometry and fundus (living eye) examination through biomicroscopy and other means.
- Examines and prescribes contact lenses for refractive and medical diagnoses.
- Interviews, examines and treats Low Vision patients and prescribes aids as needed.
- Consults with Ophthalmologists and refers patients with indications of pathological condition when needed.
- Provides care in an outpatient or inpatient basis as needed.
- Generates reports back to referring clinician regarding mutual patient in a timely manner.
