Job Description :
The Registered Nurse (RN) in Behavioral Health Services is responsible for providing high-quality care for patients in an inpatient psychiatric setting.
The RN will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care in a safe and therapeutic environment.
Responsibilities :
- Perform comprehensive assessments of patients' mental and physical health, develop treatment plans, and provide direct nursing care, including medication administration and crisis intervention.
- Continuously monitor patients' conditions and document vital signs, behavioral changes, and treatment responses.
- Work collaboratively with physicians, therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of patients by implementing de-escalation techniques, using therapeutic communication, and maintaining a secure environment.
- Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment plans, and coping strategies.
- Assist with discharge planning, ensuring a smooth transition from the inpatient setting to follow-up care.
Requirements : Experience :
Experience :
- 2+ years of recent experience in an inpatient behavioral health unit.
- Strong knowledge of psychiatric nursing practices, including mental health assessments and crisis management.
Licensure :
Current RN license in Michigan (or compact license).
Certifications :
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred but not required.
